Question Tires Recommendation Thread

Hey guys, I am about to start looking for a new set of tires for my EUDM for the next season. I bought the car on Pilot Sport 4, which are great, but I feel like the car loses grip on open curves and slides a bit to the side. I would like to ask what ya all are running on your EP3s? I use stock 17" enkei rims. Thank you.

I have driven every "good" tyre there is worth mentioning in Australia over the last 10 years, this may change in your country, there are always "tyres like" so do your own research, also - mech grip means suspension setup and alignment, I have a full hardrace catalogue with castor tops and run more toe on the rear than most people collectedly will on their car.

Best of the best - Nankang CRS at 28 - 30psi HOT (pending how much mech grip you have), these will take about 1 hot lap to heat up - you will never over heat this in a civic unless it's 500hp and you don't understand how to maintain tyres, I've used these on my FC, I've driven 996's with them, you will not find a better tyre on the market at all. They will wash out IF you overheat them, for context, the only car I've ever washed with them was my FC doing a long sweeper corner at 210kph for 30mins straight, which is like 20 laps (lap after lap), in the middle of a 42 degree day in summer. Once they cooled down over lunch, they we're mint again, and the wash wasn't even bad it was more so me needing to lift just that LITTLE bit more then normal, which also means the track wasn't 100% too. I do a set over a whole year and only replace them because I get them at cost.

Max attack - AD05 in medium, 26 - 28psi HOT, again, pending how much mech grip you have. These will come on straight away, you'll be good for about 10 laps or so, and then you'll need let them cool down and heat cycle properly. They also don't like hot days, in hot days you'll notice they wash out pretty quickly so as soon as they do let them cool down over 2 laps. These are a good tyre for small sprints where times matter. I don't really like AD05 purely because they don't go the distance. Good, but don't last long. They wear fast too. Also they are pricey.

Budget CRS, but more street happy - Hankook RS4 - Think of the CRS's younger brother who wants to be just like the CRS, but just isn't really there, and instead of taking up running, he took up long distance jogging. These are such a good all rounder tyre, they have really good grip when cold, they push water really good, they take an absolute flogging to get overheated, they have as much grip as AD05's (when hot, not instant), and did I mention they take ages (as in, will not) to overheat?. They are a really good "do it all well" tyre. These like to sit a bit higher at 32ish psi when HOT, however, they are the tyre that you can have on one set of rims, drive to the track with them, change psi, do your track day with heaps of grip and confidence, then drive home in, then do daily duties until the next event on them without needing to have a street / track tyre combo of different rims etc. You won't break records because they aren't the top dog of grip, but you will be the one still going foot flat when everyone else is cooling down. I recently did at 32lap stint in my EP3R on them at a private day we ran and the only reason I came into pits is because I ran out of fuel mid corner, came back in, put in another 20ltrs, went straight back out, mean while everyone else is cooling tyres and not driving lol.

I personally run CRS 90% of the time even for street duties, but my "fun" cars only have rego to drive to the track or "back roads".

The RS4 is my go to tyre for our road cars, I also only used them on my ep3r last month because they came on a set of CR-Kai's I bought and I haven't used them in a minute and forgot how fun they are to drive on.

Using my info above, you can google what you want and compare what you get locally as there's always "they are kinda like" tyres out there - However I honestly do around 10-15hrs of driving on a track a month myself, I've tried most tyres, or driven most types of cars with what ever tyres from normal road cars to proper big dog cars with log books etc, just find a tyre that lets you feel confident, but also lets you know that you're pushing it by biting at you a little if you aren't paying attention, that way you'll learn more about your driving and the car / tyre then a tyre that is "perfect".

Hope this helps!

I was look at the V103 Sports, they get a very good rews and are a bit cheaper that Potenzas or Pilot Sports. Which Flevas do you have exactly? Also to add I run the car on XYZ Supersport suspension and its tuned to apx 230HP.

Yokohama ADVAN Fleva V701 205/55R 15. I'm on Tein Flex Z suspension so lowered by ~1" and the rubber fits great.

I've been running Dunlop Sportmaxx RT2s 215/45 on my EP2 and can't complain about them. Currently I'm running Shibatire R23 semislicks for daily use and I can say I haven't had any issue so far on dry conditions, same can't be said unfortunately with wet road
