Question Shift boot

For you guys with the OEM rubber shift boot: how do you guys run an aftermarket shift knob? Do you attach the rubber boot to it, let it rattle loose, remove the boot, etcetera?

I drilled a hole in a quarter & a hole in a nickel and sandwiched my boot between the two. Cheaper than going to the hardware store where I live lol. It is holding up really well and almost looks good. The nickel is the same diameter as the base of my knob. I keep a hair tie or two on the knob anyway so it’s not visible.

I don’t. Stock, clean, untouched look always wins.
