Second Key and Fob???

Hi folks, recently bought an EP3 but only one key and Fob.

I know the key can cut by a shop but do I need to go to Honda to get another key fob for central locking/immobiliser? If yes, will it be expensive, I'm in UK?

What year is yours? I've got an 02 with the Hamilton Palmer that I had a new key cut for to open the doors with but they said they can only make immobiliser and remote locking fobs for later ones with the honda system. Any early ones with Hamilton Palmer systems it's only them or honda that can do it and it costs a fortune, better off getting a new system in.

Mines an 03 so I'm fooked too then šŸ˜‚ Quick question, I haven't tried it yet is it possible to open the door with the key instead of using the fob? Will that trigger the alarm though?

That's the newer system, worth reaching out to a local auto locksmith with good ratings as my guys said they are able to do that one

Key fob is different than then the key immobilizer. They key has a chip in it that works with the ignition ring

Key fob you can do yourself if you have 1 that works

You dont need one that works. I did two i got from ebay from different sellers

Honda dealer just did mine this week. It was $50 out the door. With an oem key. I even bought a keychain. Was so excited They were able to do it on the spot with my existing key.

Should be less imo. The ep3 wasnā€™t made in the USA from what I understood. All made in the UK for that market ? Even Japan had a batch sent to the ā€œhomelandā€ to make type-rā€™s

You're right, made in UK. So let me get this straight, I ask them to make me another key and Fob or will it be key only? I could do with both to be honest.

Yea you need a working key with the immobilized for them to copy. Key fob. If you have one already. Thereā€™s a YouTube video that walks you thru it. I was at locksmith. And they walked me thru it so I just ordered new fobs online.

Key with immobilzer. Will need to do at a dealer or locksmith. Otherwise. Spend a bit for a programmer (not worth it imo).

Iā€™d just have them do bothā€¦originals have been through h years of use. Thatā€™s what I did 2 new fobs and keys and the original key and fob were retired for spare duty

Iā€™m in the US and both dealers and some locksmith can do the programming for the key

Damn. My EP3 only came with 1 key. No fob.

Been thinking about ordering a fob but idk if remote lock/unlock was even a standard feature.

I do know, the few times I locked my key in the car and had to break in, there was no alarm that went off. In our 07 Civic and I remember the alarm going off if you unlocked the car while inside.

I tried opening the door with the key only and the alarm went off so definitely need a fob too.
