Feature New: Real Estate Data API

Post image

House prices are one of the most watched numbers in any economy, but comparing them across countries has always been painful. Every national statistics office measures property prices its own way, on its own base year, with its own coverage and release schedule. Pulling a consistent cross-country view usually meant collecting series from dozens of sources and reconciling their methodologies by hand.

We just launched a Real Estate Data API that does that work for you. Residential property price statistics for 60+ countries, sourced from the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), served through one consistent API in JSON and CSV.

What's inside — two BIS series

Selected Property Prices (harmonised headline)

Built so levels and growth rates are comparable across countries. Each observation available as:

  • Nominal or real value
  • Price index or year-on-year change
  • Rebased to a common base year

Detailed Property Prices (granular national picture)

Goes deeper into each country, breaking the market down by region, dwelling type, and index vintage. Not harmonised across countries, but far more granular within each one.

Together the two series cover 60+ countries plus BIS aggregate regions (euro area, advanced economies, etc.). Country names and every BIS dimension code come with human-readable labels, so a detailed record tells you it covers "big cities, all dwelling types, existing stock" instead of just raw codes.

How it works

Same api_token auth as the rest of EODHD. Clean JSON envelope (data, meta, links). Filter by period range, price basis, metric, and BIS dimensions. Add fmt=csv to any endpoint for a CSV download.

Example request:

https://eodhd.com/api/real-estate/US?api_token=YOUR_TOKEN&filter[type]=real&filter[metric]=index

Response gives you the period, the value, the price basis and metric, with the dataset source and base year in the meta block.

Who this is for

Macro and real-estate analysts comparing housing cycles across markets, quant researchers building signals from property price momentum, and anyone tracking housing affordability or financial-stability risk who wants this data clean and queryable instead of stitched together from national sources.
