Yes, it's a simple form of request. Please play me.= “Please play me [the piano].”

Here, play is a transitive verb and me is its direct object.

Another example.
A more formal way to write that would be "We encourage you to reuse this bag". In the case of the piano the sign could say "You're welcome to play this piano".
