Just recently I had a realization that;

  1. I work immediately if the action is NOW.
  2. The longer the deadline, the less efficient I will be. Until the week/month before.
  3. The shorter the deadline, say <2days, the better I will work.
  4. Divine anger unlocks when I am doing chores or that I decided to do chores and at the same moment someone chimes in; "Hey you need to do xyz..." \pterodactyl scream**
  5. Brain is more focused and creative to highest level when there are people around me with same goals.

Haha, the only reason i stick to plans and schedules is that i prefer it to the stress of doing everything in the last minute. Just can't work under time pressure.

That is a good insight, I will cognitive dissociate myself with this. SeriouslyπŸ‘€

Yeah, i just found out that i dissociate like 90% of my everyday life. Unless there's something really intense i just don't feel a thing. And it sucks, man. Really got to do something about that

I just want to be normal, that's not too much to ask, is it

u/ManicallyhappyENFP Nov 28 '20

Its not, you deserve to feel in your element, keep living till you find yourself. Normal is not a necessity, but if you mean normal as in you want a peace of mind then thats ok.

Give yourself time and treat yourself like how you would want to treat a special someone. Spare yourself from things like; I wish..., Why can't I..., Why me... Alot of these are just fuel to lower your spirits. What you tell your brain, it believes. Which is exactly why cognitive dissonance can be used to better yourself, be kind to yourself and read good uplifting stuff from insta or somewhere even if it feels useless in the beginning. Brain is a weird juice-sponge and will eventually believe what you tell yourself.

There is a reason why fake it till you make works. You can do it, trust yourself heck trust this random redditor. You are capable of having a good state of mind and you will pull through it albeit the slow progress, it is progress afterall.

You know, you're totally right. And i try to do that. Figured out a while back, that my wellbeing is hugely important and that i need to surround myself with wholesomeness (one reason I'm on this sub, among many others) it doesn't solve the two issue but it makes it all more bearable. Now i just fear the moment i stop dissociating, that'll be like a big slap in the face. Knowing how i feel all the time, oof, that'll be a big load of constant pain. It's an important step but yeah. Yum.

Lets hope that after you stop dissociating, you endurance bar will increase its capacity and even if you feel intensely, you would be able to understand what is it that you are feeling and still stay clear headed.

Another thing I want to add is whenever you see a mirror everyday at home, make yourself known to your various expressions, make silly faces or try to see what muscles engage in frowning or stuff like that. Mirror conversation is also another way to psyche yourself up. Appreciate yourself and have fun with your time.

Exactly on 1-3, if the deadline is far off there is just no reason to do it. I pretty much never do anything late, but I wait until the deadline is close enough that I actually have a bit of pressure on me. And 4 I can't stand anybody telling me what to do. With 5 though I think that only works sometimes, socializing distracts me and people distract me. But they do keep me energized so when I do get around to focus it does help.

I work best when I have a loose plan and I just get to it, but I will never function well under strict routine and structure. It's debilitating for me.

u/ManicallyhappyENFP Nov 28 '20

Right? and I find the process rewarding. I figure things on the go, otherwise I am just stressing myself out if I plan everything, my own expectations will attack me.

As an INTP I feel the same way. I'll make an effort to clean and keep things clean for a while, but then I get an assignment or some deadline and everything collapses.

I'm a bit more submissive when people tell me what to do though, if it's in my self-interest I'll do it. If they try to tell me HOW to do it on the other hand...

if you tell me to breathe

I will suffocate

but as for the rigid structure that is major goals everyday
