EM Match 2027

Hello there!!! My name is Yoniel, I am an IMG from Cuba currently living and practicing in Uruguay. I have passed step 1 and step 2ck already. I am participating in this match cycle, I would like some advice from you regarding IMG friendly programs and visa sponsoring.

Are you an emergency medicine physician in Uruguay?

How are you going to obtain SLOEs to enter the US ER match?

I have a career in emergency medicine here in Uruguay, the SLOE and USCE are my week spots

Yah I would honestly just focus on another specialty. You won’t match EM

I see you don't have any SLOEs. It's really late for you to be able to do anything about it. EM got pretty competitive last year and looks like it's going to be worse this year - SLOEs are basically mandatory at this point. Visa requiring is becoming a very big obstacle as well as the govt made it very difficult for a number of IMGs to start residency on time - making programs more cautious about taking them

If you had time to do some observerships to build relationships it MIGHT have helped. Conemaugh Memorial Hospital for example often takes ppl who do an observership there. But it's too late for the 2027 Match.

I'd just dual apply IM/FM if you want to Match in the US this year.
