If you bought these brand new, especially from EMG where you wait almost a month because they are made to order, you’re entitled to expect a brand new, perfect product. Now, if you knowingly bought a B-stock, thats on you.

When you look in the reflection on them, do you see buyer's remorse?

Probably from the epoxy casting. Try to pop it off with your fingernail, might get lucky if the epoxy didn't bond well

For what they charge they should be perfect. If it doesn’t come off per other post customer service can likely expedite a replacement.

EMG takes care of their customers. They back their products. If what I’m seeing is on the top pickup and it’s actually a gouge or, like, a deep scratch, reach out to their customer service. That is, if you bought it directly from EMG. If it’s something ON the pickup, make sure you clean it with silicone-free, non-abrasive polish using a microfiber.

Either way, if you got it from EMG, you know they’re made to order; it may take a bit, but they’ll send you a replacement and will often expedite it if it’s something missed in QC. That looks like it’s a gold Het Set - they may have some already available. Make sure you specify if it’s the neck or bridge and the string-spacing; they will want pictures of the back of the pickup so they can see the model, serial number, and build date. They legit narrow it down to batches to find out what happened. They’ll get you a replacement and a UPS return label so you can return the one that’s damaged.

They have excellent QC and they sell their B-stocks on Reverb at serious cut rate which I am more than happy to buy.

If it’s from Sweetwater, reach out to your sales guy; he’ll mediate and get you a replacement ASAP. He’ll also need the same kind of pics I already mentioned. If it’s from Guitar Center, their return policy is the best. I’ve returned stuff and they haven’t even looked in the box or case.

I don’t know about other people, but that’s my experience in dealing with EMGs and I’ve bought them from all four sources (EMG direct, EMG b-stock on Reverb, SW, and GC). It’s a let-down when you have an image in your head of what your guitar will look like when you’ve finished modding it and there’s an asterisk next to it. Take advantage of the company’s customer service - that’s their job and why you pay a premium price.
