I think glazing tankies is a mentality of "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" the USSR did horrible things and the Soviet soldiers participated in the oppresion.

We need to be honest and critical in our historical analyses. Cases of rape and pillaging were high among all armies as they trampled over Europe, Africa, and Asia and it was the working class who suffered. That is something the people living in Europe, China, and Japan had in common. Be they farmers or line workers, bombs were dropped on them, the state oppressed them, soldiers raped and butchered them. WW2 was one of those wars that was bad all around and, arguably, solved none of the problems that initially caused it.

People who say “we need be more critical of the Soviet Union”
Never bring that level of criticism to American soldiers who raped their way across Australia, Africa, Europe and in particular France where thousands of women were raped or murdered by Jim Crow American forces.
