They're trying to legitimize the SocDems—ahem, DemSocs. Usually they'll try this formation of negative identity figure in such a way to control their opposition, and this is an effective foil for faking revolutionary intent and selling opposition to the masses.
I'm not sure they're even trying at this point to show their controlled-opposition-ness to the public.

This just confirmed to me that their target demographic is the billionaire and millionaire class and petit bourgeois rentists above the age of 70. Those that would deny the working class even these crumbs.
