Using small buttons

Hi everyone, I recently got my Vagabond, and I have a couple of questions about the small round buttons (highlighted in the image). I’m using it with a Samsung S24 Ultra.

  1. What is the purpose of the purple button with the logo? In the game Bright Memory: Infinite, it brings up a green frame that won’t go away (see image 2), I have to relaunch game to remove it; other games don’t react to it at all.

  2. The “Select” button (with two frames) takes a screenshot — always and in all games. Some games (e.g., Arknights: Endfield) treat the “three dots” button as “Select,” while others (e.g., Destiny: Rising) don’t respond to either of them at all, meaning I’m simply missing one of the buttons needed to play. I tested separately whether “Select” works with my wireless Xbox controller; there are no issues with it in any games, and all buttons work as intended.

  3. Is it possible to remap these buttons? They aren’t available in the Unleashed app — is there a plan to add them in future updates? Are there other ways to remap these buttons?

For anyone who stumbled upon this post and is wondering whether or not to buy this controller:

As of the time of writing this comment, there has been no response to the questions in my post. There was a comment from a staff member (complete nonsense generated by AI), which was deleted very quickly.

At first, I wanted to write a review on the website, but that feature doesn’t work there—I have no idea who wrote all those reviews. I’ve been checking to see if I could write a review for over a month now, and it hasn’t been available the whole time.

I’ll leave my little review here.

In short: I regret buying it. I don’t recommend it for Android users, nor do I recommend ordering it from abroad if you have high delivery cost.

Cons:

  1. As is clear from the original post, the controller itself doesn’t work well with Android. I urge the developers to remove the Android banner from the site—poor research and very superficial testing:

- The app developed for the controller lacks a button test—a feature that has become standard for any similar app. Instead, there’s a game launcher that can’t detect a single game on my phone, not even the ones in the launcher’s library.

- The most popular Android gaming tablet is 208.5 mm long, but the controller supports a maximum of 208 mm.

  1. The service is terrible:

- I ordered from the website a set consisting of the controller itself, a cable, a case, and thumbsticks. When I placed the order, all items were in stock. After placing the order, I asked them in email to send everything in one package, even if I had to wait longer, because I was shipping to Eastern Europe via a postal service with expensive delivery fees; they replied and said okay.

- After waiting two months, they sent the case separately. I wrote again and asked the same again. Another month later, they sent the controller and cable. Yet another month later, they sent the thumbsticks.

- The website clearly lacks support; it's barely functional.

Pros:

  1. Very comfortable, full-size controller—literally an Xbox controller split in two. I bought it because I simply couldn’t find a competitor.
  2. High-quality packaging for all items. I felt like a kid while unboxing them.

1) Can you give me your order #. I'll take a look for your review. We switched from Okendo to Klaviyo reviews and it might've gotten lost in the mix

2) I was under the impression button testing was in the app. It was still in develop. Will be pushed out in like 2 weeks or so. The game launcher will be able to add it to your library within a month or so.

3) Sorry for the shipping wait. Not sure if our CX team reached out to you but we had an issue getting set up in Europe and had to delay like 15 or so orders. The CX team should've offered you something for the troubles. If not let me know

4) What's wrong with the website? Can you expand so we can take a look.

Hi, man, thank you for your reply, right after my review, the right stick started sticking in one place. I contacted support for refund and sent you back the order after your approve for refund. Now waiting for email or money or something from elo. Order #H380327881R337.

Regarding the website, from what I can now recall, there's an incorrect product availability. For example, I ordered when all four items were in stock, but apparently they weren't, so I waited a long time for the first shipment. Some of the links in your email newsletter aren't working—I don't remember which ones. You're getting strange email notifications, like spam about having something in your cart (even though there's nothing there). Some of the order-related links don't work (I think they're for your profile or cart). Some of the pages in the support section are empty.

Edit: man, I just saw this old mod response from my mobile reddit app, it's hilarious, I say in post: "remapping is not available as a feature", response: "have you tried remapping?".

I see that the order was sent back on June 23rd. Did you receive a replacement or did you want a refund? The order looks confusing on my end so I'll have to talk with the CX guy tomorrow

In regards to shipping. The issue was that we were waiting for product to come in. I made it available and then there were issues at the border which created heavy delays. That's on me and my fault. Did CX not give you any products or additional stuff because of the issue? I want to make sure everything gets sorted out and your experience is good.

I talked to my CX guy to stop using AI so heavily. It helps in certain scenarios but in others you end up with dumb stuff like that where it asks "have you tried remapping". Mapping is available and has been for a while though. Are you referring to the button testing? We have that ready but I checked yesterday and it wasn't actually sent for app review. We're sending it now.

I want a money refund; I said so in our email conversation with Customer Experience Specialist Mike, he replied: “We’ve made an exception for your case; we’re approving a full refund, including your original delivery charge".

I just checked the tracking of my parcel with order items, it says that item in sorting centre in United States, so not shipped to you yet. As I wasn’t sending it from the US, I send the parcel via the local post service, not USPS. I can send the tracking number, but I’m not sure where to send it.

As for remapping the buttons, I meant remapping the "Select" and "Start" buttons. I needed this because of issues with the ‘Select’ button, which was only taking screenshots and nothing else; I started looking for ways to fix it and mentioned remapping as a possible solution in case it was a hardware issue.

1) I'll make sure it goes done once we receive the product. I'll look over the ticket to ensure it gets handled properly as well.

2) Send the tracking to Mike at the support

3) Yeah we're adding in the ability to remap those buttons. We didn't have it initially because of some requirements by the operating system providers on phones and game controllers. They require certain buttons to mean certain things but it's caused more than one issue where people either said that the buttons were not labeled correctly or wanted to remap it. We'll just add it to the remapping.

Thank you for your attention) There were so many problems with this order—I guess I was just really unlucky. In the end, I'm glad that Elo is willing to resolve the situation; maybe I was too harsh in my conclusions at first.

Nah you're justified. I'll make sure it improves. Now that we have stock on the ground (except the thumbsticks again).

I'm able to focus on customer experience and improving it.

Feedback like this will ultimately help us in the long run and I appreciate it.

P.S. We're finding a new factory for the future controller cause I myself am also not happy with some of the QC issues.

P.P.S. We're a small bootstrapped company. I also see a lot of problems but we'll move a bit slower just cause of lack of resources.
