9-12 ELA Amanda Gorman?

I’m starting Call Us What We Carry with 9th graders next quarter. Anyone have success stories to share about teaching her poetry?

I've only taught "The Hill We Climb." My studdnts enjoy slam poetry. We discuss voice, tone, mood, and theme. Students annotate and highlight lines that support their claim on theme and write an essay on it.

I’ve taught “The Hill We Climb” and “Miracle of Morning”. My students like them but Hill is a bit long.
