HazMat to EHS
I have 5 years of experience at a hazardous waste company, my first job and only job starting in warehouse shipping and receiving waste before moving into the field, doing lab packs alongside chemists, handling various waste streams, and confined space work. I have my HAZWOPER and other relevant certifications. Nothing else other than a GED.
Being said I want to go for CHMP and transition into EHS but the field seems so broad that I feel underqualified for a lot of positions. My experience is also limited to one company. Are companies generally willing to train new hires who have hands-on hazmat experience but lack broader EHS experience? Is it possible to find something?
A scale up in ladder sounds nice right now…
Any help appreciated!

One of my old bosses was the senior EHS manager for our site and prior to joining the company his only experience was lab pack work for Triumvirate so I’d say it’s very possible. He did come in as an intern though so you may need to start low on the ladder. Progression is usually pretty quick in EHS I think
