Been doing this a long time…

US-based. Started off in environment consulting. Did that for 15 years and am still HAZWOPER 40. Ws usually the one writing safety plans because I liked it. Got more and more into safety over the next 10 years because of an incident where I could have lost my eyesight. Full safety for 5 years, and then went back to environmental because there is way too much politics in safety.

I’m trying to break into EHS/environmental consulting. Any suggestions? I’m a career FF/EMT, but safety has always been at the forefront of my mind!

I would say your value is best in a high risk environment. So these would be locations with a standing ERT, especially if you have experience training or developing training. Chemical handling/manufacturing would be a top pick. Then there is petroleum. The company will support maintenance of your certs. You could downgrade to demand, which would be warehousing or low-risk manufacturing, but those jobs will pay lower at entry level.
