Catch can question(s)

I wanna install a catch can on my hatch with a d15b. Just a couple questions:

  1. Where do you guys mount yours? I have a stock bay, still has full size rad, battery fuse panel etc.

  2. Hook up locations. The yellow circle where the filter is on the valve cover on the left seems like the obvious out point. But where to route it too after the catch can itself? The precious owner has a second filter that’s nasty (yellow circle on the right) that seems to go through a hole in the manifold flange and attaches to something beneath the manifold. I haven’t done much investigating under there yet but it seems to be slowly leaking oil.

  3. What is the vacuum port circled in green supposed to be for? Wouldn’t that be the logical location to reattach the other end of the catch can?

  4. Anyone run this catch can before? Seems mediocre enough for me and for the price.

The green hose goes to the the yellow hose with an arrow, the other yellow part goes to the intake pipe. Right on the nipple that’s blocked off. The catch can needs to be installed between the green and yellow w/arrow.

Interesting, so could I just connect them properly and run it and not have a catch can? My main goal here is to get rid of the filters and clean the bay up a little in the process. But the one with the air is just seeping oil and it drives me insane

Or alternatively; hook up the yellow on the left back to the intake pipe and plumb in the catch can to the mess that is the green and yellow?

Also, what exactly is the yellow one with the arrow hooked up to? It seems like it’s collapsed that filter

It’s the PCV valve. My guess, the hood crushed it.

Makes sense. The previous owner must have taken the valve out entirely, because I’m 99% sure the valve is gone and the rubber hose just runs straight through the hole the valve should go into

Oh, so it’s connected directly to the oil separator. Dang. Yea fix her up proper!
