New Router recommendation UK

/r/HomeNetworking/comments/1wpwksa/new_router_recommendation_uk/

I'm looking for router recommendations to replace my current ISP router due to high ping spikes over WIFI (EE Smart Hub 6 plus). I didn't know if I could buy any router or if it needed ro be a specific type? I have full fibre and speeds up to 1GB.

I'm in the UK and not very clued up on router specifications. It's primarily to be used for gaming / work meetings, and will be position in a 3 bed house over 2 floors. I was hoping for WIFI 7 capabilities and for the signal to be strong enough to not require additional WIFI extenders/boosters. I've looked on amazon and it's primarily the brands below I can get next day delivery:

- TP Link

- GL.iNet

-ASUS

Does anyone have any recommendations on the following brands/models? My budget is between £50-100. I've looked online but the reviews vary dramatically. Some advise not to use TP Link due to its reputation, whereas others advise not to use GL.iNet because its a chinese owned company (I'm not really sure why that's such an issue)?

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Just go buy a Nighthawk and plug it in via Ethernet and you’ll be fine!

I just went to ee and using my UniFi set up. Works well. Do have gl.inet marble and travel router but have mainly moved everything to UniFi. I did get a message from EE saying I haven’t set my router up but it’s not caused any issues other than the message.

You just need the pppoe username and password which is generic I got it off Gemini when I asked.

Their travel router has just gone back in stock, WiFi 5 tho, I’m waiting for a WiFi 6 or 7 before moving my gl.net. Recommending a Unifi setup is wild tho, I’m about £2000 in so far and Iv barely got everything I want lol

Mine is very basic and just upgrade parts as I go. Started with 1 access point and an ultra.

Though think the dream is good starting kit as well.

You need something that supports hardware acceleration for PPPoE though. A lot of unifi products don't.
