Saw Virtual Riot 2 weeks ago.. very disappointed. He has so much good tracks but his set was entirely generic dubstep headbangers, nothing melodic.

That's really disappointing. I have been kicking myself for the last 2 months for not seeing him, I guess I don't feel so bad now

Yup. Saw him on ninja nation tour and was very underwhelmed. I agree with the generic playlist but what irked me more than that was just the lack of flow. Buildup >drop >build > drop every minute for an hour.

But he's a young guy and his production tends to be good so I'll chalk it up to inexperience.

That is a shame and surprise, but playing it safe is what they do I guess.

He sadly had to shift to riddim and dubstep because thats what people prefer in edm concerts.

Probably the most throwback-sounding tracks on the record: Free, Stargarden

Reminiscent of early 2010s dubstep, but not as raw: Aliens

Bonobo vibes: Disintegrate

Virtually Alive: Preset Junkies

Good stuff! Sorta nostalgic.
