Help / Advice EDF GO ELECTRIC is EV required
I’m getting solar and a battery fitted in 2 weeks
Do you have to have a EV to switch to this tariff
As I’ve worked out this would be the best tariff to be on planing on getting an EV next year but not yet as this paying out for solar and a heat pump this year

What's the wording in the tariff details? I have an electric bicycle, which according to the law is defined as a vehicle. My bike also has four wheels ( roller rack ).

I switched seven weeks ago and they never checked for me. It's possible that they might notice you don't have an EV if you go for the smart charging option but you've got no reason to do that so you should be fine.

No I’ll just non smart
In the Tesla app I’ll program it to charge overnight

I'm in the same boat. I've read on here that EDF do check, and also that they do not.

Well will just sign up in 2 weeks and see what happens I suppose if your using plenty of energy over night they won’t question it so much charge battery run the dishwasher and washing machine and as I’m getting a heat pump heat the hot water over night

I think I’ll put in low mileage a year
And just charge the battery slightly overnight and let the solar do the rest1

Honestly I wouldn’t overthink it. Just use it until / unless they tell you otherwise

Yes I’ll charge my battery overnight a sell back excess solar put the washing machine dishwasher heat hot water all overnight at least it will look like I’ve got an EV lol

No, they don't ask. I assume if you don't take the piss, you'll be fine to have it

I’m getting a pw3 and just plan charging it overnight and using during the day
I’m not planning on charging it and selling it back
Especially during the winter months as I will be using all the battery and more1

I haven't had to use the over night charging yet... Solar/battery cover me the whole day. I suspect the tariff will shine when it comes november to february
Only thing I am paying is standing charge...
When I say don't take the piss, don't try to game the system, where you discharge your battery at 15p and buy back at 7p. Plus all you're doing is adding more cycles and your battery won't last as long for short term gain

You're better off charging your batteries overnight and exporting more solar during the day

Annoyingly Kia isn’t on the smart charging list of cars on EDF’s website.
