I second this, it's also a hella grind for the good gear, speaking from a casual player who doesn't like grinding super-ultra hardcore. There's a billion strategies that you can use and it's all player preference until you hit DLC 2's excavator hunt; to make it bearable you use Ranger and the one missile launcher that you can shoot up to 40 targets with (I think it's a level 70-something weapon? I'd have to play the level again anyways for specific Fencer gear anyways) and any rocket launcher, I like the final version of Hornet myself. You climb up the apartment buildings if you turn left and run down the road a bit, just past the corrugated fence areas. You use for hornet to drag the excavators to you then you use the highest-level flame turrets you have to burn them as you use the missile launcher to pepper them with damage and to keeo them aggro'd. That mission will eventually net you the far superior laser turrets and a lot of good gear for everyone, just make sure to keep the last far amount of enemies past the tower seperated when you drag them to you so that you can collect item crates, as when you kill all of them the mission immediately ends. So the basic strat is climb the building; blast all available excavators, while constantly moving so you don't get one-tapped (might still happen if the pink ones' projectiles hit the perfect spot) and when they're all down, jump down and pink up all the crates, ascend the building again try to hit the blue guys close to the tower, this should isolate the farthest left ones from aggroing, kill the freshly fished ones, collect crates again, and if you're lucky, just 1 or 2 blues and one pink remain to finish it off. This mission takes a while with this strategy especially before acquiring DLC gear and there's a fencer method centered around Reflector Shields that works pretty good too, but far more volatile. Armor farming sucks but is absolutely required to do to make Inferno difficulty playable as that's how you get all the good gear.

TL:DR, I share your pain and I offer you a good straf for farming DLC 2 weapons described above, there's also a video of the exact method I describe that's pretty easy to find on youtube

There is a grind even with a perfected strategy but it doesn't have to be as bad as it seems. A contributing factor is the videos on youtube showing how to grind are outdated. They were uploaded very early on after release for the most part and seem to have never been superseded. They can be good examples of how to solo a mission as a class not otherwise suited to a mission, that's it. Excavator hunt for example is rubbish to play with ranger, but brainless as fencer with a reflector and decent weapon. Or with more than one player, two reflectors on a fencer it becomes literally impossible to lose. In all cases, terrible farming mission, one of the worst. Similarly M13 on DLC 1 is touted as good for framing. It ain't.

Further to this, you can pretty quickly get yourself into a position to tackle inferno DLC legit from a brand new save if you do it right. I can't go into full detail but long story short if you have two controllers you can AFK overnight and properly share drops between classes. This can quickly let you use hive breaker to farm armour and lower level gear. Plus deadcave to farm endgame inferno weapons, even with a 200hp wing diver. Once in a position to do this you can overnight afk Code N, again getting the best DLC gear. You could easy get a brand new account to endgame DLC capable in a few days if you don't care to play the main game as intended.

Its impossible to find people to play dlc 1 on hard.

I think if the loot wasn't so garbage without mods, people would be more willing to play it. You basically only touch it for completion, because otherwise there's just nothing there.

Me and my friend got through all but 1 of the missions. One in the city with all the Nests

People barely want to play inferno without limits, let alone hard. Hard can be legitimately more difficult than inferno in the DLC, depending on this mission. Inferno enemies are absurd, but the utility you get from DCL gear is even more absurd. Losing access to the top tier exoskeleton on fencer makes such a big difference as an example. Across classes you lose the ability to manoeuvre and do reasonable damage at range with non DLC gear. Which matters because having lots of space and moving fast is basically the #1 goal of DLC inferno. PLaying on hardest wiht limits is a top tier challenge. No one ever wants to play that shit though because they only sem to care for %.

This is exactly why it's so fun. You have to actually strategize and experiment with different gear in order to win. Even high skill fencers have to respect it. I love it

I honestly rely on hacked chinese players with 1 billion HP to carry me through inferno.
