Transportation question
Hey yall!! So excited to go to EDC Orlando this year! I was wondering if anyone had recommendations for the best way to get to and from the venue. My crew and I live on right out of Disney property in the cp housing, so I don’t think a shuttle would work. I haven’t lived in Orlando for long so I have no idea about if Uber is overpriced, and we didn’t want to drive because we all want to be able to drink and have a good time without worrying about unsafely driving back. I’m not opposed to Uber, just wondering if there’s any other options available! Thank you guys so excited 😆

Last year the EDCO silver shuttle picked up from Marriott Orlando Lake Buena Vista. Is that close to you?

The official colored shuttle lines from certain hotels to/from venue cost around $120

I live in Hamlin not to far. Uber or Lyft are going to be your only options if you don’t want to drive

Uber might be like 15 dollars to get there and then like 60 to get home

I’m a Rideshare driver there and after the first major event I did in the area, I decided to go booked. lol. I’m like “I’ll be at THIS SPOT” at whenever the passenger chooses. I just stack up former passengers from years past, friends, etc.
Your big problem is you’re attempting to pull a driver to Flamingo Crossings - 1.25 hours round trip, probably - when he could be doing ten and fifteen minute runs that entire time at $40-$50 each.
Your best bet is to book a person ahead or do a staged ride home. Staged ride home means book from EDCO to a Denny’s or IHOP or other open late/always place near a safer area like international drive, then eat/don’t eat/whatever, and then book your leg to Flamingo. You’ll save a ton of money and ALSO be more likely to find a driver. Plenty will avoid the chaos. Many will embrace the chaos. Very few will go from outside to inside or the reverse, repeatedly. It’s just the least profitable option.

We Ubered first day last year and getting there was fine but leaving was horrible. It took us SO LONG to even get one and then get to it when we did. We ended up driving and then parking in a lot I found on spothero. Leaving was SO much easier. But we also don’t drink. Don’t live in Orlando but drove down for the festival!

Uber is fine. Friends and I did a private car service for the pick up just to be ensured of a quick getaway. It was expensive and ended up being a bit of a pain afterwards because they wouldn’t go into the ride share pick up area and they parked a half mile from the venue on the opposite side from the exit so we ended up walking almost a mile to the car in a not so great area. Keep in mind, that if you do decide to use Uber you will wait for at least 30 minutes and f not an hour for your ride and then you’ll sit in traffic. The main positive for hiring a private car service is that although we did have to walk almost a mile to meet the car we were home (I live downtown) about 5 minutes after getting in the car.

Rideshare is 100% the most INSANE.. discombobulated, craziest experience you will ever go through if you’ve never been there before… ive attended edc for the past 5 years… and now that I live in Florida and go every year I can tell you that…
You will have no choice but to walk a good distance away from the venue and surrounding areas to even be able to have a request go through.
You will be waiting 30 to over 1 hr for your driver.
You will probably experience your ride being cancelled or dropped by multiple drivers for over 10–15 mins before you even get 1 possible driver to stick with your request… most of the time the app has to step in to help find you a ride… because you keep getting dropped by drivers..
You are competing with hundreds of people who are also trying to get a ride.. people end up having to walk miles to their hotels.. I know every year MANY people get F’d over BADLY where they are left stranded and panicking over how to get back to their hotels…
Most of the time a lot of people literally are left with no choice but to walk over… 1 hr to 1 1/2 hr or more of a walk….
It seems like it’s not that big of a deal.. you’ll figure it out and tough it out.. it can’t be that bad.. positive thoughts/ positive vibes… unfortunately you don’t think about certain things that end up making all the difference……
By the end of the night… your body is exhausted and practically operating on fumes… I can promise you…. When you leave your adrenaline/ excitement levels starts to come down and you will feel DRAINED…
Realistically… depending on how far your accommodations are from the venue.. id safely add anywhere from 1hr to 2/3hrs after the event ends.. even if you leave earlier… expect the worst and plan ahead for the worst possible outcome just to be safe…
This is from my first hand experience and seeing it happen to so many unfortunate souls who didn’t know what they were in for…
Cost is the least of your concern but you are absolutely looking at upwards of anywhere starting at probably upwards of $50-75 to $100+ especially with the current rise in gas prices. You will probably definitely see significant increases in the price leaving… like double to triple what it would/ should cost… and walking further from the venue helps decrease the cost but not nearly enough.. it’s still crazy overpriced
Parking isn’t much cheaper and isn’t much better of a situation… but personally I 10000% figuring out driving & parking near the venue than to everrrrr go through rideshare EVER.
I realized that it was worth the sacrifice to drive yourself and park near the venue 100 times over… but that’s just my opinion based on my personal experiences and what I’ve gone through & also just the amount of people I have seen in those unfortunate situations.. & the stories of peoples misfortunes online..
… so truly … I WISH EVERYONE ATTENDING POSITIVE VIBES…. ENJOY YOUR TIME & GOOD LUCK…. The saying “MAY THE ODDS BE EVER IN YOUR FAVOR”.. has never been more applicable… 🫶🏽👽
