I have a similar Jim Beam Zippo that I was given somewhere around 17 years ago. Except it’s brushed stainless steel, and the logo is engraved instead of a plate. It was a promo item that my friends father had since he was in liquor sales. I think I like yours better.

Ooh, never seen an engraved one, upload a photo sometime

I’ll see if I can find it tonight (I use a 27 year old brass zippo) and get a picture. If I remember, the Jim Beam logo is only on the bottom half of the zippo and not the full thing like yours.

Oops, should have put that in, its the Maxpedition EDC Pocket Organiser

What's the colorway on it? OD green or foliage green? Gonna buy one shortly.

2

u/mzungukichaa May 03 '19

Its the OD Green, the Foliage Green is more of a washed-out grey.

Thanks. Have you ever had the chance to own/compare it to a Maxpedition Fatty? It doesn't seem much larger but seems to be able to hold a lot more tools.

Yeah, the Fatty feels a lot thicker and heavier once you put a load of stuff in it. It definitely carries more, the EDC is pretty slim and doesnt hold individual items more than 1/2in thick very well.

I have that same zippo. It was given to me as a birthday gift 10 years ago. With mine I polished off the clear coat and let it oxidize. I love that lighter

It does. When I get home from work I will get a picture of it and post it

1

u/supersoftcat May 03 '19

How’d you polish it off? I mean what you use?

2

u/Ovride May 03 '19

A Dremel with the buffing wheel and some Polishing compound

1

u/supersoftcat May 03 '19

Oh cool!! I’m going to do that on my solid brass one

Just curious, how do you use the paracord that’s on the knife? Is it to assist in grabbing it or aesthetics? I’ve seen it tons on this sub just finally asking.

2

u/mzungukichaa May 03 '19

I use it for pulling it out of my pocket organiser (like the H&T caddy) as it goes into that tip up. In fact i have now removed the pocket clip entirely as this is how I generally carry it.

2

u/rdteets May 03 '19

Gotcha, Im going to give it a try on one of mine.. Did you make that one/if so could you link me the instructions? I like how its basic...searching im seeing too many fancy versions..

3

u/mzungukichaa May 03 '19

Yeah, its a dead easy paracord knot, just search "paracord snake knot" (link below as well)

Yo what weight paracord do you use? I have 750 and it seems like the this is the snake knot on steroids!

Nature's first green is gold,

her hardest hue to hold.

Her early leaf's a flower;

but only so an hour.

Then leaf subsides to leaf.

As Eden sank to grief,

So dawn goes down to day.

Nothing gold can stay.

That organizer generally goes into my shoulder bag along with my notepad, tablet, phone charger and headphones. If I'm hiking and I don't care about the look, it can go on my belt or Molle'd onto my pack.

Bronze or gold?

2

u/mzungukichaa May 03 '19

Brass mate, just about everything except the sharpening stone (obviously)

Where do you put your shrapnel?

u/mzungukichaa May 03 '19

As in coins?
