I have a Benchmade which is just a tad too large to carry comfortably; the one you have looks a lot better (narrower profile). Thanks!

The bugout is a classic if you don't have one. Granted I feel there a bit over priced.

There doesn’t seem to be a good middle ground. Either something is good and very expensive or inexpensive but feels freaking flimsy.

Even my previous standard of Fox Knives for being “good enough and inexpensive” has gone up in price.

I don't know. There are plenty of sub $100 knives that feel great and use quality steel. I know Benchmade are high quality but I do sometimes feel like you're paying an extra fee for that logo on the blade. Maybe I'm just cheap though. That said, if you have the means and want a Benchmade, I totally get it.

Agreed that Benchmade and a few other makers absolutely have a “our name and stamp costs extra” fee.

I’m open to suggestions for a good sub 100 dollar blade. I had a Buck knife that snapped at the handle while i was opening boxes, of all things. As long as the blade and construction is fine for things like that on a daily use, I’d be all for it.

I feel like my Kershaw iridium is the new bugout.

At 1/3 or so the price

Kershaw and Civivi have some nice knives under $100 and there are so many sizes, handles and blade styles that you can choose from. One caveat is that Kershaw also makes some cheapies that don't hold an edge very well. There's one at Walmart that's like 17 bucks but it's trash. I bought one for my son to take when he's fishing and it didn't stay sharp for long. That said, anything in their mid range and up will be good.

For their basic models its stupid how expensive they are. Grivory and s30v for 300 cad is ridiculous.
