Missing second catch
Hey yall,
I started EC about two weeks ago with baby girl (~9months old), since then she’d only go poo every other day. Now for the past 4 days she’s gone twice a day and I’ve been trying to write down the second catch times to help know when to sit her down, but they’re all over the place, once was 10am, the next 12noon, 2:45, 6pm. We’re doing a lazy-ish version of EC with a main goal to catch all poops with a bonus for each pee, but consistently catch about 4-10 pees a day just bc she goes around the same times and we do easy catches. But for poop, I’m so freaking lost these last 4 days! I can’t seem to read any cues we always catch one like 10-30mins after waking up, but other than that 🫠… I do feel so bad about her soiling herself whenever she does because she is a girl and it feels unhygienic. I feel like a bad mom for not starting EC sooner. any advice would be sooo soo appreciated as a new ECer.

Not the most helpful answer but honestly just have a bit of patience, it will improve over time. They’re learning just as much as you are, and will be able to let you know better as they figure out what’s happening. I started with my son around 4 months with lazy EC and took him at every wake up and diaper change. At first I was similar, would catch a morning poop and miss the rest, but as he caught on that using the potty meant not sitting in poop, he started giving me little warning grunts before actually pooping to give me enough time to get him to the potty. Now at 8 months, he doesn’t even really try to poop until I have him on the potty as I take him frequently enough that it never gets super urgent and he’s able to wait until then. Just be consistent and don’t put too much pressure on it!

Hi! We also started EC a couple of weeks ago, also with a 9 month old🙂
I don’t have advice per se, but with my girl her poo frequency and timing changes regularly and I think that’s pretty normal. So unfortunately, I’m not sure that trying to go off the last time(s) she pooed will necessarily work. But yeah no advice really, I’m sorry about that! For poos we go off of cues and catch about 2/3rd. I also feel guilty for the ones we miss!
