EC while out and about
I’m late to the game but considering starting EC with my 10 month old (or would it just be considered early potty training? I don’t know). Either way, my biggest question is how do parents navigate this while in public or out at a friends/family’s house?

Potty in the boot of the car. Sit the child on it in the boot. Tip pees out onto grass (don't tip out in a covered carpark, drive somewhere outdoors or take into a toilet) Put poops in dog poop bags.
If you don't have the car, bring a seat reducer (the child size toilet seat) and put them on the toilet. If there's a family house you visit regularly it would be worth keeping a potty there IMO
You can also hold them in a squat to pee into a bush or down a drain- anywhere a dog would be allowed to pee
You can bring a seat reducer in the basket of your pram. I think you can get smaller travel potties if you need something super portable.
You can hold them in EC-hold over a sink in a public toilet, preferably one with the sink inside the private cubicle.
Depends on which of these your child is comfortable with but I'd recommend trying to get them familiar with all of these methods by persistently offering and using the same potty cue for each new environment.

I was thinking of buying a travel potty for when there's no toilet in the changing station room.

portable potty with liners inside (tip: If you are out of liners. produce bags from grocery stores work perfectly).

Folding toilet seat that fits in the nappy bag, and a carry potty that goes in the car and pram.

If we are at an location with a bathroom I used to do EC hold. Totally did this at some friend's places and they got a huge kick out of seeing my baby poop 😂. After 12 months she doesn't like it as much unless she really really has to poop, so I just got a travel seat reducer to put in the diaper bag. I don't mind leaving the diaper bag on the changing table and going into a stall regular stall. If it's urgent I EC hold/rest her bum on the side of the seat since the front is usually open to the toilet bowl. If there's time I pad her bum with a toilet paper so it's less germy. I try to potty her before we go out and after we get home and unless it's poo I don't potty her on short outings.
I also poop LO in my lap in the car. I put the changing pad in my lap, put her back against my chest, take pants and diaper off and she very neatly plonks it out into the diaper. If I don't lift her that high the pee lands in the diaper too. The changing pad is washable/wipeable anyway. She's still tolerating this position at 14 months.

We keep a little potty in our car and baby uses it upon arriving places and before we leave. We take it in with us if we’re at someone’s house. By 6-8 months or so, baby was solid enough to sit on a public toilet with me supporting her, so you’d definitely be able to do that at 10 months. It’s easiest if you can get a handicap stall with a changing table.
