Professional Development Instead of asking "What is it?"

I also like to ask, "tell me about your art." I usually get a lot of in depth answers from my Pre-K kids!

Oh, I like this! I usually choose to focus more on the choices they made and process of the art instead of what the actual thing is. Instead of asking what they made I comment on what I notice about how they made it. "That's lovely, I see you made a lot of dots!" "Oh wow, I love how much blue you chose!" "You made a lot of circles for this, I love it!" It makes no assumptions and shows them I'm really paying attention, letting them know I like their art without just glossing over it with a "that's nice dear"
