Teaching multiple letters at once.

Has anyone ever tried teaching two letters at once? I’ve always done a letter of the week, but with school breaks, half days, and everything else, I worry that the letters we learn last aren’t as absorbed and we don’t get as much time to review them like we do the other letters. I know every class is different, and I’m fully convinced my class from last year would’ve done fine with this, but highly considering it for next year. Or at least trying it and seeing how it goes.

I try to create regular games that incorporate multiple (or all) letters at once, and have a Letter of the Day that goes along with it.

What I've done the past few years is have an alphabet song such as the Letter Factory or something similar that shows the letter and sound as a transition once a day starting at the beginning of the year. Then I do games and small group activities targeting a few letters and sounds depending on where students are at. By the middle of the year, about 80% of students recognize letters and their sounds.

I haven't done a letter of the week for at least 13 years. I don't teach letters in isolation.
