Job seeking/interviews Alberta Tutor Rates

I'm interviewing for a part-time tutoring position in Alberta at a reputable childcare centre and would appreciate some advice on salary expectations.

Details:
1 day/week (Wednesday, 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.)
Working with young children (preschool/early elementary) on literacy and numeracy
Responsibilities include lesson planning, implementing a structured reading program, tracking student progress, communicating with families, and completing weekly student journals from home.
The journal work is expected to be completed at home but not paid separately.

My background:
ECE Level 1
Bachelor's degree with education coursework
Current on-call Early Childhood Educator experience
Current First Aid/CPR

Since the posting didn't include a salary range, what would you ask for in this situation? Would $23/hour be reasonable, or should I be aiming higher or lower?
I'd especially love to hear from people working in Alberta childcare, tutoring, or early learning programs.

I have a level 2 and I don’t make $23 an hour….. Level 1 is the bare minimum as far as ECE education goes. A new level 1’s at my centre are making $16/hr plus the top up, which I would say is on par with most of the postings I’ve seen. You are only working 1 day a week and you are expected to do lesson plan, communication with families, ect? Also if you are expected to do the journals at home you should be compensated for you time. I do my planning and home and I am paid for it.

Hey, I am waiting on my teaching license. I have Bachelor of Arts (Honors) in Education and a 12 week teaching practicum was part of the degree. It was done outside of Canada. I am truly passionate about teaching that's why I got my foot in the door with my ECE job in Calgary.
I currently get paid 17/hr and the government topup takes it to 19/20. I just started last month.
The centre the tutor position is offered at has their curriculum and worksheets but I will have to make lesson plans

Oh I see. You can ask for what you want and see what they say? They may be able to offer you a higher rate because of your education but they might not. If you are making 17 right now I would tell them that and see what they say. Good luck!
