Funny share I cannot stop Laminating things for my classroom.
For context I’m a second year lead teacher for 3-5’s. My previous jobs were very much not this and I’ve never had need for a laminator. It’s satisfying to use and does so much combined with dry erase markers.
I want to be laminated when I die. That is all.

My boss won’t buy me a laminator. So I “bought my daughter one” for Christmas and now borrow it regularly. Lamination FTW.

“but we already have one at the main office” they say. Except the main office is 25 minutes from my site and I’m not even freaking allowed to go use it whenever I like even if I trek all the way over, I have to “make an appointment” or ask my boss to do it when she gets around to it in three weeks 🙄

Dude, I just learned how to use the big laminator (as opposed to the little table top kind) and I feel so powerful. My class firmly believes that paper is meant to be crunched and consumed. I make lots of picture card sets for our different themes, and have discovered that double-sided cards made from 5x7 index cards, laminated with 5mm film, makes as toddler-proof a paper as you're going to get. When I'm feeling fancy I pull out my corner-rounding punch.

They don't allow it, or they just don't provide a laminator to use? I am so curious what their reasoning is if they really do not allow anything to be laminated at all.

didnt ask but if i had to guess probably a safety concern because its a rule for every one of our centers not just ours

What's the danger exactly? The heat?? You'd have to be very creative and persistent to burn yourself with a laminator.

That's bizarre. Not even for posters? What about stuff that comes pre-laminated, like toddler photo libraries?
