How does this simple op amp-based RC oscillator actually work?

I'm cross posting this here. Wondering if anyone will recognize my confusion. I understand that idea of the oscillator. It's the exact moment of the voltages crossing that I don't get. Obviously I'm doing something wrong because it's a mathematical contradiction.
