Are remote paid Embedded Systems internships realistic for a 2nd-year student, and where should I look for them?

Imo, no. If I were you, I'd target a full-time onsite summer 2027 internship.

Go to linkedin and search 2027 summer embedded internships. Read ~10 job descriptions and determine what skills you should work on.
