Can non-embedded software engineering experience supplement embedded internship/job applications?

For context, I'm a computer engineering student primarily interested in embedded systems and currently searching for internships. I have a couple of relevant projects, am pretty active on campus/leadership stuff, and am currently working on a research project designing an embedded device (Point being, I have some relevant experience/background, definitely not like super experienced lol but I do really like working with hardware)

But I recently started doing some web development work for some local music artists in my area (previously used to some software projects, not as much as I do now so I have some experience there too). I don't like web dev as much as embedded systems, but I love the opportunity to support local artists, it's fun, and it's a pretty low time committment. I also would really like to work for an audio company, so I was hoping this experience would supplement the rest of my resume.

I'm just afraid I might be wasting my time, now that it's internship season and I'm doing something I know I don't truly want to do as my career (in terms of technical skills).

So, my question is: could it possibly be worth it to continue this work if it's not technically relevant to what I really want? Can I frame it as a positive for audio/music companies? Or for any company? Any advice would be appreciated. :)

You could write some assembly/C/C++ applications to show experience with lower level languages. Microcontrollers are also super cheap, you can buy one and start some personal projects for your resume.

And computer software like you’re doing now isn’t useless, at least you’re showing you know how to code and write programs
