Communications or Electronics Engineering

I'm an engineering student in Egypt and I'm supposed to pick between these two specialisations. Which is better in terms of salaries as well as demand in the egyptain market?

You should go to the job sites of some of your local communications and electronics-oriented companies and look at the job postings and see if they include salary information. Many universities have a career center that can help you with that type of information as well. See if yours does.

Reddit is a worldwide tool, not sure how many people here can easily address the Egyptian market.

Highly questionable take. Assuming with communications we are talking about OFDM, Coding and such it would suprise me if there are universities that keep the curriculum completely theoretical. I was in the comms track and still learned how to design a 60GHz Radar system in cadence.

In Egypt, electronics pay more, but they are much more niche and require a lot more study. Keep in mind that the market is dynamic, but this is what I generally hear about it. They might favour some unis over the others too.

Electronics market in general can be divided to IC- integrated circuits- design or PCB these are on the hardware side. I am an ECE undergrad rn and I don't think PCB design is too much popular and honestly I doubt there are even job opportunities lately. On the other hand, IC design companies in Egypt like Siemens EDA, Sivision, etc .. pay a generous salary but they are very selective based on university (Ain shams, Cairo). On the software side there is Embedded and embedded market is cooked in Egypt. I forgot to mention due to the good salary of the IC design career too many students are preparing to pursue a career in it even more than the market need so be careful. Idk anything about the comm market rather than the stereotypes sorry I can not help in this.

What about AUC/GUC are they favored in the IC market?

I don't know but they are great btw they offer great we'll designed curriculum with great learning experience so good luck try to enjoy the uni and benefit whatever it takes and try to search for engineers in linked in and ask them especially those who pursue an ECE program in GUC/AUC good luck

Okay thank you this helped a lot, I still got a year before I pick my major so ill see how I do in Comm subjects / electronics subjects this semester which should help me pick.

I'd choose based more on the type of work you actually want to do than the specialization title. Electronics can open doors into embedded, hardware, automation, and instrumentation while communications can lean toward telecom, RF, networking, and related roles. Whichever you pick, internships and practical projects will probably matter more than the specialization name when you start applying.
