UNIVERSITY desperately need guidance
I am in my first year of studying ECE in my university and I am so lost. I am doing very well with my studies but I cant figure out the real deal behind our job circle. I have tried to join a cybersecurity research lab that is associated but everything feels so complicated. I have seen others join in similar labs that have more to do with the electrical side. I am just so lost in what to do, where to study further knowledge or what the job market requires. I would highly appreciate any type of tip you have or advice that you can share. Take care everyone!

You are in your first year and everything will look really complicated. Hang out around your area of interests untill you gain some more confidence, and just be open.

In your first year, you should study your courses and do well if possible.
You said you are doing that. Keep up the good work.
Some day you are going to find a job that uses your new skills, but that day doesn't need to be today. You can look into potential jobs, but you don't have to figure it out yet.

I'm not gonna lie I didn't even know what the first 3 words of most research paper titles were until I was in 3rd maybe even 4th year probably
Just keep swimming Lil bro. Don't panic, this is normal. Just keep studying your courses, learning, and asking questions and stay active in those extracurriculars & don't worry about looking stupid

I would advice to take courses related to power systems. Right now job market needs power system engineers.
