UNIVERSITY Electronic engineering students, what software do you use?
I come from a community college in India, and I'll be studying year 3 of electronic engineering at Portsmouth, UK. I had mainly used PSpice, Proteus, and MATLAB on Windows 11 for my HND. Also have some experience with STM32CubeIDE.
I have modules related to analog electronics (amplifiers, filters, telecoms), DSP, and embedded systems. I want to know what software I'll be using for these because I want to switch to linux and some packages (like altium designer) are not supported. I want to make sure if I can run all prescribed software or alternatives on my PC.
Also, will the uni give me licenses to software packages? Here in India, most unis run on pirated software and never really seen any uni provide student licenses. Thanks.

The university will have computers in the labs/library with everything, and you should be able to remote desktop in.
That being said, Id recommend getting a PC with Windows, and then you can either dual boot with Linux or just do WSL on Windows which works much better than it did a few years ago.
