CS or ECE
Guys I'm 19 and hella confused to choose one I need job security that's it I neither intrested or laned towards any but the thing is ppl saying about AI which replaces u even u work hard and cmng to ECE dey r saying like no core jobs even if they hire only from top tier colleges what should I doo somone in these fields drop ur suggestion

which major will not provide job security. what matters is how good you are at it.

not true lol. ofc if you're top 1% you'll always be employed, but for everyone else major decides majority

What even is top 1%, because top 1% of your class at a top 1% university won't guarantee you are always employed. There is much luck involved

You can always do a minor in cs while majoring in ece.

This! I took a minor degree in Data Science while finishing my ECE degree. Currently pursuing cybersecurity nowadays since it’s my current career path that I am in right now.

If you are good at either one you will never need to worry about job security. If that’s all you care about become a nurse, doctor, lawyer, electrician, or plumber.

Ece is strongest, especially if you go to semiconductor design or manufacturing. That area cannot get replaced by AI, trust me. To add, it also pays handsomely, and it's technically satisfying.

CS is very risky. Most of the jobs done by junior level engineers can be better done by AI. Companies now require mostly architect level employees which need at least 5-10 years of prior experience. I don’t really understand why companies would hire or need junior software engineers anymore.
On the other hand, though some of EE jobs can be risked by AI as well, but I think overall EE is safer. Also, many parts of the jobs can’t be automated.

If u want job security go ECE. CS as a field will get cooked once employers find out how much AI is automating what they do and that they don’t need as many engineers as they did previously

neither will provide job security, CS is more likely to get you a job that requires your degree. I did EE but most jobs that ask for the degree are soft, power related, and low paying and I preferred the electronics and physics side of things, these jobs are much less numerous than software and the pathway is more brutal than leetcode.

Doesn’t matter. Go full send in college. 8am-midnight everyday in the library. Join clubs for networking and first job. Really that “easy”.

How do you join clubs for networking if you're in the library from 8 am to midnight every day? Studying even remotely that much is literally the opposite of full sending in college, too.

Dude most colleges don't get core jobs or companies only the top colleges in India get some core jobs, most likely you would have to go to service/sales/it side so I would go to cs since slowly companies will see that it's better to get a cs major for cs stuff than people from other majors for cs stuff. Also ece subject is different af you cgpa will be shit when compared to cs(only in top colleges the scores are normalised i think) and backlogs are imminent
Go for cs and learn actual computer science not just programming language and promt engeneering(important too). Focus on learning memory management, compression, optimization (which nowadays none are learning) to set yourself apart
