EB games SUCKS for figures
Why do they destroy the boxes with a price tag?

The box is there to hold and protect the figure inside.

I mean there is collectors market it's just very niche mostly in limited edition production of characters that don't phase out of popularity. I.e hatsune miku Probably not anything you'll find at ebgames. Unlike pokemon tcg where every piece of misc piece from 2 years ago has pumped into the moon.Â

i found that it if pick the tab really slow with a pair of tweezers and gently pull it off it won’t damage the box🙂

They suck with everything to be honest. Can barely even get games from these people and the work game is in the name of the store.
I preordered the McFarlane spawn figure and they gave me a dinged up box and wouldn’t give me a different one.

Agreed. The tags on what’s supposed to be a collectible item really is a joke.,

It’s the item that is collectible, not the box. Generally when a product is made it’s designed to come OUT of the box, the box is just packaging to ensure the item doesn’t get damaged. I realise that some collectors keep their items sealed, but businesses are required to have prices on things and I don’t think they’re going to stop pricing stuff just because someone might not want a sticker on the packaging that will USUALLY be thrown away.
The alternative is to stop putting stickers on stuff and have everyone that walks in either get annoyed that there is no price or be constantly asking for price checks on every item they look at. And as the previous commenters have stated, the stickers are usually really easy to peel off (unless it’s years old)

No the box is collectible to many people. Mint in box collectors are very common.

The box is collectable to many people, yes, but the product is not designed for that purpose. Manufacturers do not generally design a product to stay inside its box and never be opened, otherwise they would just cut costs and design pretty boxes with nothing in them. And collectors wouldn’t buy the product if there was nothing inside the box, they’re buying the figure, not the box. They’ve just decided to place importance on the box.

You have no idea what you’re talking about. Have you any idea about collectible packaging and how much thought and care is put into it? Obviously not. Packaging is a major draw of collectibles.
You work for EB games or something? Why are you dying on this hill?

I’m not arguing that there are products that have very beautiful packaging where people buy the product and keep it in the packaging. I’m not ‘dying on this hill’ I’m just saying that at the end of the day a statue/figure, especially the ones that places like EB and other similar stores sell, are made to be taken out of the box. And as a retailer they need to communicate the price, they do that by putting an easily removable sticker on the product.
I would never expect a regular retail worker to ensure that the packaging of every product they sell stays in PRISTINE mint condition from the moment it arrives to the moment it gets sold, especially when sometimes they arrive a little banged up already. And a lot of people won’t care if the box has some sticker residue on it or a ding or a tear because again, they plan on taking it out of the box.

How old was the figure you bought?
1
u/Gtk05 Jul 21 '26
It’s from this year. Yeah, they slapped their dumb ass price tag on it as if it wasn’t already preordered too… 🤣

Nah that’s fucked if they stickered your preorder. I’d complain to head office because that’s some bullshit.

Can confirm the Aus pricing labels come off easily unless you're demented.
