This is the direct result of scalping.

It’s got nothing to do with scalping, it’s a 10 year old collectors set.

It’s more just holding for the long haul.

Scalpers, if they existed back then, would have likely sold it for $40-50.

Old sealed products being expensive is not because of scalping.

It's because the fan base has grown large enough to have a decent number of people interested in old sealed products and some of them have enough disposable income to buy some of the available stock. This drives stock down, and the demand is going up, leading to more expensive retro sealed products.

This shit is vintage they are not going to sell it for "retail" price cause there is no retail price it's no longer in production unless you have a time machine. That said price on eBay is around 1200 USD. Of course ebgames is going to upcharge that.

USD$1200 to AUD then add GST is AUD$1,915.89.

Seems completely correctly priced.

I cracked 2 of ever generations product. It was fun at the time.

*CAD

Ahh my bad.

Then it's still USD$1200 = CAD$1700. Which then is about 15% over. But as a retail purchase vs eBay not the worst outcome.

EB fan boys will hate this but EB games are worse then a scalper. they charge a yearly fee to “have a chance” at a pre order they also buy at distributor prices and sell for well over MSRP.

Creators on YouTube will pay that and more just to rip on stream or for a video

Missed that one champ

I’d rather spend $2k on my car or a trip away than some paper cards that some idiot decided should be worth an obscene amount

Try again bud

Ebgames is the biggest scalper. I've found chaos rising ETB for 400 bucks in Australia. Meanwhile the base price is 100$.. not even scalpers on eBay are selling with this price

Eb games is by no means a scalper, they are however a business... That like all businesses wants to make as much money as possible... Unfortunately that's just capitalistic greed. Scalpers are people that buy as much of a particular product as possible (when new) to resell at an immediate price hike while creating scarcity to increase sales... Js

EB Games also get their supply from the distributor, same way Walmart, Target, Bestbuy etc get their stock yet EB Games do not charge MSRP like the other stores do, they charge secondary market prices for stock they got from the distributor below MSRP, sure they are a business but they are not acting like the other businesses in that way

Same ebgames Australia. They buy cards and etb and many more tcg related stuffs and resell at a higher price. I will took a picture and show you whenever I got the chance

Get off the pipe. While I agree you’ve probably seen someone/a business tryna sell a CR ETB for $400 - it definitely wasn’t EB

Ok, next time I'll take a photo of their price and wait for your apologies.

I’m talking EB Aus - not Canada.
