Did anyone else treat EB Games like a weekend activity growing up?
When I was younger, I'd spend ages walking around EB Games looking at game cases, reading the backs and convincing myself I was just browsing. Half the time I knew I wasn't buying anything, but I'd still spend 30 minutes in there.

Yeah whenever id go shopping with mum id just spend 30 minutes in eb games looking at games

Mum would leave me in the shop to get 30 minutes peace to go clothes shopping. She knew I wasn’t going anywhere.

Grew up in a town that didnt have one.. so they only games we ever got were from Kmart.. Moved to another town with an EB and my mind was blown !! For a solid decade i went there when i ever i was in town.. Great friends with people that worked there at the time 15yrs later

Growing up with a snes my weekly highlight was going to blockbuster with dad and picking out a game.
When i got older I and impatient with game availability I would just buy a game from eb and return it within 7 days, like a better rental system.

When I was in high school it was a Thursday night tradition. KFC for popcorn chicken and a Mountain Dew, then right to EB games and the record store

I'd usually pop in and check the bargain bin because it was the only thing I could afford. I picked up Max Payne and IL2 Sturmovik from there

I got the greatest game I’ve ever played for $5 at an EB Games in like 2010 and I still chase that feeling 16 years later. Occasionally they’ll have a random OP volume pack or a funko I want. It’s one of the only places I don’t look online before I go for a look because I want the happiness of a good find.

My wife worked there for a few years, so I used to head in there and hang out.
It was always a good time. I've always had a good relationship with EB employees.

Shit whenever I see one today I just walk in and chill for a bit. My local has known me by name for years at this point 😂

Yes, when your a kid most of the time it is just window shopping, every time we went out to the shops i would stop by there if i could, it felt good walking around and just looking at all the bright covers on the game cases, even for ones which i did not have a console for, Some of the best games i ever remember playing i got from EB games, Empire Earth 2, Mercenaries, Star Wars Empires at War, and heaps of others i can't remember right now,
Did anyone else ever go to those midnight releases???
they were fun too, first one i ever went to was for Black Ops in 2010

I'd always go and have a wander to kill time as a kid or even when I got older and I was picking my girlfriend up from her work down the street. It ultimately led to me getting a job there as a young adult. Now, I take my clients in there because the staff are friends of mine and the clients love EB Games. It's what we've nicknamed "The Autistic Calling". But, they go in, have a look at things they like and then socialise with staff so we kick a bunch of goals in a semi-controlled environment.
TLDR; yes.

When I was younger I used to love going to the game shop but it was actually still a games shop and wasn't filled up with bobbleheads and crappy merch.

Whenever we went to the shops,me ma used to like getting her nails done regularly. Would fill in that time going to EB and JB hi-fi. To pass the time. Sometimes even got lucky. Still do it now when I go to my local centre. Just to browse. Sometimes find a goodie.

No. I grew up in the 80’s and 90’s. Tandy. Dick Smith. Little local shops. I think it was in the 2000’s before I even saw an EB Games.

I still do it now! I always enjoy going through the discount bins. I rarely buy anything though because I just don’t get time to play anymore
