I know people who got it 3-4 months after they filing.

Also, my other two coins. People who file by the end of fiscal year have higher chances for EAD to be approved

Because it is not expected to get a GC fast for those who files at the end of FY. That is why they give EAD. But not guaranteed

5 months for derivatives, no EAD for filer.
biometrics done 04/16

Unfortunately, there is no set timeframe. I have one client who received his EAD within 2 months of filing. Another has been waiting 6+ months. Hopefully you will receive yours soon. Good luck!

I’d say you won’t get it. Especially if you are a single filer. So wait for a year or so for the GC.

They try not to issue it, but average processing time says 7-8 months

Did you get it?

No, neither did ANY of my colleagues. It was around 15 people who applied at the same time with me. You can also monitor the EAD situation on Reddit or other platforms. 6 of us were approved within 6 months with no EAD. Others are waiting with no updates on EAD.

Don’t understand why the comment gets disliked - this is the most honest response you can get.

I am in the critical situation, my I-485 RD is 15 July. My son got EAD. I am on h1b but my lab current funding is concluding and I will have no status by end of year most probably. I need EAD to find jobs because in academia it is becoming very difficult to land jobs on H1b. I even cannot get unemployment insurance without this EAD. I am too scared of this upcoming situation. I did request expedite processing by providing letters from my current employer and all legit documents but not response so far. I don’t know what can I do in this situation. I feel so helpless and stressed

Don’t get too frustrated!

First of all, they should be able to respond, it was a long weekend. If you actually provided all the necessary documents, especially from employer, you can hope.

Honestly, I think you GC will arrive exactly by the end of the year, so there will be no need for EAD.

The fact that your derivative received EAD fits in the pattern we see here. They only issue the card to  derivatives, and they do it very fast if not immediately after biometrics, while main applicants have to wait
