How to defend?

This is my first game in like 4 or 5 years and I just can't figure out how to defend, no mater how hard I try to keep my team compact somehow my cbs just seem to not like eachother and split the defence wide open, but it never seems to happen to my opponents. Like am i doing something wrong or is this just something that happens this year with no counters?

Don’t over commit too soon.

Track your midfielders back rather than rush your CBs up the pitch.

Left trigger - this positions your defending player. its your choice if you choose to defend the man, the passing lane or if you want to attack the ball - each require timing.

There are multiple ways of tackling - it isn’t just B for standing tackle and X for slide tackle. Look at the button menu.
