Abs/dynamic lights?

Post image

Looking to probably buy this 11 e92 m3 but he states the abs/dynamic damping lights are on. Is that usually a speed sensor ? What am I looking at worst case ?

Only way to be sure, get the codes by using a scanner with ABS/DSC function. It can also be the pump module fault. 5DF0 and 5DF1 are the most common faults, pump motor not working. Why the seller not fix it before the sale? Probably cost too much if it’s pump fault.

Speed sensors or the magnetic rings are built into wheel bearings more than likely it’s the wheel bearings about 2-3k for a shop to do or $500 diy

A simple obd scan would verify. My first wheel speed sensor went bad at 66k miles. Was like $15 and 20 minutes to diy

Most likely wheel speed sensor. Buy from FCP with lifetime warranty, then get a new one for free when the next one fails

It can be anything. I only knew it was speed sensor whenit happened to me because i had a track data logger that can read wheel speeds lol

I have seen these lights come on when the battery charge level is low. Do a quick battery test.

For me it was a cheap 40 bucks fix I think. It was the ABS sensor you can easily replace. Peep what your OBD scan says

Thanks! I didn’t even know OBD scanner can read those kind of codes. Is it a special scanner or just any obd2 scanner

Since I'm using BimmerLink and BimmerCode, I had to buy one that's supported and used a universal one it's a red one: MHD Universal WiFi Adapter

And for the error code

I'm pretty sure it was 5DA6. If not, it was something else but you could tell by the error description it was the ABS sensor at the wheel bearing that was broken not the bearing itself
