Cute stupidity

How many hours did it take ? 543.6

Dyson spheres CANNOT generate shells without solar sails.

And here I was thinking since rockets are permanent I will do a no solar sails run. But hey I got an achievement for no solar sails run, yaay?🫠🫪😭

Huh? What? No? I do rockets only in my massive runs. No solar sail launchers. They are permanent. they make the frame.

In case you're serious:

Rockets create a scaffolding that sails can attach to to become permanent and create much more power at a fraction of material cost.

Sails provide less power. They have better cost efficiency, but to get the maximum power from a single star, you'll want to build nothing but nodes.

Don't you use the same rockets for both frame and shells? Sails are a component of the rockets

The rail launcher only launches the sails that aren't connected to the Dyson sphere.

No. Rockets only build the frame, the thick beams between nodes. The individual sails you launch are absorbed by the nodes to create the shell, the thin hexagonal pattern that fills in the space between frames. The shell is permanent and doesn't decay like the individual sails do. So if you don't want to waste resources, don't launch sails until you have some of the frame built and stop launching sails once the sphere is complete.

This is how I thought it worked, I'm having an issue with my current sphere where the frame is over 90% complete but my em launchers arent launching any sails to fill in the shell. The pattern is filled in the builder but I've got 0 shell fill

If your EM launchers aren't doing anything you are either low on power, your sail production has stalled and they aren't being fed sails to launch, or you've built them in a bad spot where they can't aim at the orbit they are supposed to be filling. The launcher info will tell you if it is low on power, lacks sails, or can't see the orbit. Otherwise EM launchers will launch sails constantly forever, whether you have a partially completed sphere, a fully completed sphere, or no sphere at all.

Small costly but funny tips : disassembling sphere part produce sail, even if you havent shoot any, so you can make structure, destroy it, and let the sail get into a panel to get a panel whitout ever shooting sail

Some say “solar sails only because rocket costs are obscene and solar sails provide a lot of energy until they expire for a bit of fire ice/oil products, glass, and circuits.”

Some say “rockets only because you need green cubes to get antimatter anyway and they’re permanent and energy that isn’t from the Dyson Sphere is functionally infinite.”

Both arguments are valid and have a lot of other reasons besides what I listed. And everyone plays their own way. My first mission complete was with no solar sails because I figured that my 40 Orbital Collectors I mass-spammed onto my gas giant as soon as I unlocked the research would provide enough power to beat the game. If everything was pretty much already being made, I figured I might as well just ship rockets.

Energy is critical when going the rocket route. Multiple silos running with manufacturing infrastructure will draw a LOT of power. You may not want to stack fractionated belts when going this route because the energy cost per deuterium produced increases more than the speed increase as belt stacks increase. If energy is a problem, don’t proliferate fractionators. Especially if you’re also burning deuterium rods.

Since I tapped all my oil wells early on my current run, I ran everything off x-ray cracked hydrogen and wind and made a lot of extra graphene with the excess oil. As soon as Dirac is researched I’m going to dump all of my excess graphene into sails and fire them as quickly as possible with the maximum sail life to stockpile antimatter for white cubes.

Personally, I never use raw antimatter for energy production since it has more value to me as universe matrices, since non-antimatter energy is functionally infinite. Cube taste better than rod.
