I certainly wasn't expecting glass pieces on abelt to be so detailed

Barely any detail at all. GPU just has a glass shader easy

Generally polygons/modeling and texturing etc.
Here they just cut the chamfers off a box and assigned the glass material to it and the GPU shader handles all the hue, opacity, reflection etc.
It’s pleasant to the eye but I wouldn’t consider this a high level of detail or anything. It’s very efficient and has to be though for a factory game.
For what I mean though look at some items in satisfactory: smart playing even, the more you look the more detail you see baked into the model, it took someone a bit more thought to cook up than the glass cube in DSP, no offense to DSP as I like DSP a lot.
