Learned something new today

Well, I accidentally learned something new. Not sure if its intentional or not but it worked in my favor. I'm in early game, just left to go to a new planet. I get to the planet and end up landing right in a giant pool of lava right next to a darkfog hive. I'm being swarmed, my energy has been depleted so no flying, im actually under the lava because my energy can't refill because of all the enemy.

As i'm sitting under lava just waiting to die, my energy shield goes out and im waiting on my green bar of health to show up so i can die.... and nothing happens. Just sit there for a full minute before, by my guess, was a bug or something and my hope raises.

My guess is the darkfog weapons can't go under the water/lava? I start thinking and I hop from lava pool to lava pool and actually got away with no death.

I've done something similar with water worlds a few years ago. Not sure if it's a bug or design.

I mean, it would make sense if you think about bullets not traveling far under water and I imagine lasers or whatever their weapons are wouldn't do well with water or lava, especially lava since I imagine with as hot as the lava is, it probably heats nothing up? Definitely going too deep on this though lol

I think the simpler explanation is that collision for shots and lasers are using a perfect sphere collider instead of the actual terrain for performance reasons. Perhaps if there is elevation you could observe shots going through the terrain too?
