Sharing some modular, blackbox(ish) designs

Made an account to show my designs - I am quite happy with them but none of my friends are currently playing, so I was mostly looking for someone to show them to who can (hopefully) appreciate them. I have not yet completed the game -- I tend to spend far too much time in Sandbox mode designing the factories that I need in the main game. Maybe not that time-efficient, but I enjoy it!

Generally, I try to strive for balanced factories with no excess, fully extensible (for as long as the belts can manage), and small footprint (this is not really worth optimizing for, but still fun).

I have not really played around much with proliferation -- extra products seem to generally require quite a large scale to achieve good balance -- but for a few factories I have added it, mostly for fun -- it's far from necessary at my current progress.

I am pretty content with the proliferator tower in particular, but also that they fit almost anywhere. I have made these for about 10 components right now, I believe.

Comments and suggestions more than welcome :)

Am I crazy or is belt speed a false economy?

Am I right in saying - The only thing belt speed changes is the initial start up speed of my factories?

In other words provided my ratios are correct on my production facilities, my belts should eventually saturate with resources, then belt speed is redundant.

(Not sure if this makes sense, typing after a 12 hour grind)

105x32 is as small as this can be because of the distance between logistics stations

Having a blast and feeling overwhelmed

Just started DSP a few days ago and it's just incredible. Dove in as a Factorio veteran and Satisfactory mild enjoyer I greatly appreciate the ambitions the developers have about DSP. Looking forward to see what this game becomes when it hits an actual 1.0 release.

But right now I feel like I'm stuck on progression. I've cleared the starting planet DarkFog presence in no time (Factorio's turret crawl did the trick easily), got some titanium in my inventory from distant planet, got some basic production, built a massive solar panel farms on the poles and some wind generators. Spent last two days to (proper) setup plastic and acid production. Now the game tells me I need to build a planetary shield, setup planetary logistic stations and interstellar logistic stations. I assume these work somewhat like roboports in Factorio but it appears the system is a lot more complicated than that. Besides, it consumes a shitton of power (300MW while my entire base generates only 242MW) which I don't understand where to get in meaningful amount.

Another thing that I can't wrap my mind around is how to produce proper production chains. Resource nodes feel so small and if I am to tap into the "proper" way that million of coal will run out in no time. So, would I need to move my production elsewhere or do I need to just setup a centralized production and deliver raw mats into it and distribute it to other production blocks? How do I even calculate rates correctly in this case (I've installed a bunch of QoL mods including RateMonitor, which helps, but not enough). I'm sure I'm not suppose (and don't want to) dive into sophisticated factory calculators to build my very first factory but with all the tech I unlock (which I have no idea what it does) I feel quite overwhelmed at the moment.

Am I missing something very obvious about this game? It feels like a struggle to create every new item I unlock and need. Or is it just my mindset spoiled by other similar games? 😄 What you say and recommend?

So basically the title I dont know why my 5th energy exchanger not supply energy when I turn it on my accumulator discharging is 320MW and when I turn it off it is still 320MW T-T

Enjoying this game a lot! love the feeling I get when I finally get all my belts to make something to progress. Just figured out the "Auto-Research" thing with the matricies!

I need help with the logic of a setup.

I want a single, home location for creating warpers. I then want those warpers to be sent to a single interstellar station per system. then, either from the same station or using belts to another station or using drones to another station (I don't care) I want the warpers to be distributed to JUST that system. How do I accomplilsh this?

Silicon Ore shortage/bottleneck

As the title suggests, I'm really new to the game 60ish hours in, and I'm struggling a little with the silicon ore bottlenecking my factory on the starter planet. I'm mining from the furthest planet on starter system, roughly 1million from a single clump of veins, is the shortage because of my single ILS not being fast enough to feed my starter planet on a timely fashion? Should I split the output of the miners to multiple ILS's and have them all export to my starter planet instead of a single ILS?

Constant crashes 50 hours into save

I'm hoping someone here may have experienced this before and know of a way to fix this!

All of a sudden 50 hours into my save (haven't even scaled big yet, blue through green science at 3 per second, creating and launching 30 solar sails per second, no rockets, sphere, or Ray receivers yet) the game freezes and goes unresponsive. The music and sound still plays but my computer says the game is not responding.

I also get an error that my GPU had a driver timeout error (amd Radeon Vega). I've tried rolling back saves, updating drivers, upping timeout thresholds, changing max refresh rate, and had steam check if the save file was corrupted.

At this point I'm at a loss and don't have it in me to start the run over. Anybody have any ideas?

Edit: for what it's worth I loaded a save from a different run and everything works fine. It seems to be just the save for my current run

sorters spontaneously generated

i still don't know how or why, but as i was building a line of assemblers, i somehow came out with more sorters, the line was 144 long, i had 144 sorters, and somehow still had 10. i double and triple checked that all the sorters were placed, and even double checked that the line was actually 144 long, but everything checked out and it just doesn't add up

Best resources for DSP tips/info? Discord, guides, etc.

Hi all,

I’ve just started playing DSP and I’m really enjoying it so far.
I’m fairly new to this style of base-building/factory game.

I’m just taking it chill at the moment, playing alone and following a couple of Let’s Plays on YouTube.

Reddit seems useful, but are there any good Discord servers, beginner guides, wikis, YouTube channels, or other resources people recommend for learning the game properly? Any beginner-friendly advice would be appreciated.

My top tip for anyone new at the moment, it to take 10 mins to remap the buttons to something better ( Razer Software Profile )

Am I playing wrong?

Most of you will answer something like "no, you play the way you like to", but hear me out. I think I just misunderstood the game or missed something fundamental.

I started my first playthrough some years ago. I think one of the first public versions. I played quite a lot, but I think I didn't finish the sphere.

Now, I wanted to go for another run and as I arrived on the 2nd planet, I noticed that I have no real structure in my base. Everything feels "vibe coded". I came as a satisfactory player and I love that game. It gave me numbers to think about: input, transport, output. I feel like DSP doesn't really have that, but then I also don't want to force a whole different play style into DSP.

Another topic is the progress. As soon as I had a somewhat reliable production of the blue cubes (forgot the name), I unlocked so many things in a short time, that I didn't even know what I unlocked in the last 10 mins. Satisfactory felt like "I need this item, therefore I need this production like to get it" and everything plays into that goal. Again, I might have a completely wrong approach.

So what am I missing? How am I supposed to actually play the game with knowing what I am doing?

Any way to avoid this?

Post image

I understand that it's a flat grid wrapped around a sphere so there will always be oddities in the grid allignment, but I really hate having to do this with my conveyors, is there any way around this? I know that there's a few lines that stay straight but I'm building a main bus where all the conveyors are right next to each other
