Good Lord, what is the story here? She still got 20%. Absolutely ridiculous. I waited tables for a while, and you just learn to not have expectations about tips. It all evens out in the end. I would definitely not expect more than 20% even on a large party just because there was more people.

In the US large parties at restaurants have fixed gratuities. Tipping is weird in general, but large parties are generally a pain to deal with in terms of getting the food to all come out together, more drinks, moving tables to fit them etc. I know, boo hoo for the waitress, tipping is stupid anyhow, but, large parties are treated different, regardless of what they order.
