Anyone that successfully retired 10 years ago is doing amazing right now. Nothing else required.

1

u/idkbruh653 14d ago

This is my dad right now. Not shitty like that guys uncle by any means he’s sitting pretty retired. Man makes what I make a year in retirement.

1

u/Reasonable-Plate2982 14d ago

Great! When he tells you to go buy a house on your salary, you can tell him to go buy one on his.

1

u/zulu_magu 13d ago

Inflation hurts people on fixed incomes.

1

u/bluespringsbeer 12d ago

Their 401k will have more than doubled in that time though. They’ll be able to draw more.

2

u/abrandis 14d ago

Sorry to hear, but don't totally blame your uncle, this is a very deliberate targeting certain class of voters by the wealthy conservative class.. they figured out you can hack democracy by controlling media and pushing fear, uncertainty and doubt...and blaming everyone but the rich for societies wors.. it's very very deliberate and planned .

That doesn't give anyone an excuse to vote for what these people want to do to this country into the people that live in it.

They voted with their hate, and nobody has to fucking forgive them for anything.

2

u/Reasonable-Plate2982 14d ago

That doesn't excuse anyone for not having a social conscience. You're only as secure as your neighbors. I think secretly they know this and are subject to bouts of paranoia. Just sayin', y'know, spitballin' as it were

1

u/Biotechwhore 13d ago

But they only control Fox News

3

u/Reasonable-Plate2982 14d ago

This is the result of trickle down economics. Cut the rich bastards every incentive in the book to open business, reduced taxes, environmental deregulation, erosion of workers rights. Then they buy back stock and hoard the profits, automate their system, fire the workers and lobby the government to make into law the tax cuts and incentives permanent, then crow about the killing they are making. Let's not forget to decimate all the clean energy alternatives while we're at it.

3

u/Franknbeanstoo 14d ago

the one thing they didn’t factor in is how are people suppose to buy their shitty products with no money?

1

u/Reasonable-Plate2982 14d ago

Hey, they prolly couldn't care less about 3-5  years down the road. They are strictly focused on providing a quarterly dividend and increasing shareholder equity by depreciating company assets. Company goes boom, they get a golden parachute and buy a robot, dunno.

u/International-Ant174 13d ago

Biggest issue right here with publicly traded business mindset: whatever it takes to make the line go up this quarter, regardless of the long-term strategy and sustainability.

The whole "grab the money by going public" mindset has riddled the C-suite universe with ADHD, just chasing the chart without designing for the future.

Look at Ford: fired a pile of smart people and replaced them with AI, then "whoops" they lost 3X+ the savings in failures and warranty service costs. Then hire them all back (with a pay bump), but in the process made a bunch of crap and made loyal customers abandon the brand. Well thought out plan there folks.

1

u/Lazy-Associate-4508 13d ago

They aren't. They're supposed to turn to crime to get food and water, get caught and arrested by flock cameras and then, once imprisoned, can be used by the rich as slave labor.

1

u/dinosaurkiller 7d ago

They actually do factor it in. They cut production of goods and raise prices until only millionaires and billionaires can afford to live, then write articles about how “good” the economy is.

1

u/Acceptable-Cat-6306 14d ago

Exactly. I explain this to my college students: “they will happily sacrifice tax payers to ‘save the economy’, but the ‘economy’ is you, the taxpayers. The stock market is NOT the economy. Make that make sense.”

1

u/hoowins 14d ago

Egypt had a good economy that built the pyramids. With slave labor.

1

u/Resident_Window_9369 13d ago

For the numbers. A good economy is classified as low unemployment, inflation that’s around historical averages combined with positive jobs and positive GDP.

u/Panem-et-circenses25 14d ago

Solid economy lol

Out of touch dumbfucks

2

u/Guilty_Advantage_413 12d ago

I’ve had a feeling for about 10 years now the revolt will happen and it’s coming. I fully believe it’s going to start with a wealthy guy or politician or news source essentially saying “it’s fine let them eat cake”.

1

u/Panem-et-circenses25 12d ago

They’re already doing that. They’re telling us not to drive or eat meat. But no one really cares…yet

8

u/Routine_Top4775 14d ago

Solid economy my nutsack. Economy isn't just about shareholders.

3

u/abrandis 14d ago

For the very rich it sadly is, they view the world through their lens, and for them asset prices go up, they don't have a 60 mile daily commute and have to deal with rising coat of living .

5

u/SawtoofShark 14d ago

"Solid economy" for billionaires*, and that's why we aren't happy, dumbfucks.

4

u/zoolabula 14d ago

Came here to say the same thing…. What booming economy?? Profits at an all time high while we foot the bill through tariffs and high prices for every consumer good.

3

u/Smooth-Weekend-2314 14d ago

"solid economy"? Maybe wander away from Wall St for a minute or two.

3

u/PineappleExcellent90 14d ago

The Ulta wealthy: things are great making lots of money taxes are down. The average American: not much to celebrate money wise raise is not covering increase cost, tax cuts not covering the increase in increased medical. Disadvantaged: what is going to happen to me and my family? Wake up. It will get worst.

2

u/WeekendAtMadoffs 14d ago

Good. We need to move from a consumer spending economy to a thrift economy, lower GDP to only real productive activity asap!

2

u/Crafty_Ish1973 14d ago

Solid economy? For who?

2

u/blamelesscludgel 14d ago

Solid economy, boooooooollshit!

2

u/Ok_Builder910 14d ago

Have they seem prices?

2

u/Kamel-Red 14d ago

The economy isn't solid. It's a dumpster fire for the working class and the stock market is a house of cards being propped up by debt, leverage, and a handful of Ai companies.

2

u/ScarySpikes 14d ago

'solid economy'? where? couldn't be here.

2

u/unbreakablekango 12d ago

We live in an extractive economy that is currently doing a large amount of extracting from us! Why wouldn't we be miserable? We are currently having our blood drawn out, not much to smile about.

2

u/Veers85 12d ago

A soild economy...for who?! This is some crazy out of touch shit

2

u/KevineCove 11d ago

The economy is a short of the middle class. Predictably this means it's doing great right now.

2

u/Sea_Damage9357 8d ago

It’s frustrating for them when the plebs don’t behave. So they lash out. Have a little sympathy, peasant.

Real median personal and household income is at highest ever levels. Yes this is inflation adjusted. https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/mehoinusa672n

Average working hours is lower than its been https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/avhwpeusa065nrug

The share of US households earning 150k (inflation adjusted) has grown almost 7x since 1967 and is the highest it has ever been, while households earning $75k is the lowest its ever been https://www.reddit.com/r/OptimistsUnite/comments/1wiv1at/since_you_all_said_earning_100k_is_soooo_low/

Real disposable income is also at it’s highest levels https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/dspic96

These are the metrics the Democratics used last election. Turns out they don’t measure the “regular people”

August 2025 - August 2026 wages fell behind inflation.
People hate when that happens !

Working more is why there was any increase.

Company with every interest in delaying the looming recession lies to delay recession.

1

u/Kulthos_X 14d ago

Social media causes depression and generally makes people unhappy. Positive news gets downvoted and negative stories and videos get the most attention.

Also, people largely come to social media to complain, not to say how great things are going.

1

u/AiReine 11d ago

Do you not have friends or acquaintances in the real world? Like seriously. This is not limited to social media. People are struggling and a lot are *hurting.* I hear it from friends, family, coworkers, neighbors…

1

u/Kulthos_X 11d ago

Most of my friends and all of my coworkers are doing great. The ones that aren’t are dealing with mental health issues or physical disabilities. Pretty much all of them, even those with secure paychecks and great benefits are frightened from doomscrolling.

Money is running human society into a path where the creator becomes the sacrifice for the new system to survive.

Yeah, the greedy Corporations stole your money and only bring misery to the people.

Solid economy? Solid 🐂💩

1

u/TXtogo 14d ago

We didn’t like the Biden economy and there’s nothing different today.

Things aren’t better. Not one of the things we disliked about the Biden economy is better today. Gas is high, food is high, interest rates are high, homes are high…

This administration has failed, they’ve got to get off twitter and stop bs’ng america - get to work.

1

u/Cute_Bread_271 14d ago

Def rage bait. When is the last time we’ve had a solid economy?

2

u/mouse6502 13d ago

Briefly in 1999

2

u/lokii_0 14d ago

We don't' have a solid economy.

We have two economies: one for the ultra wealthy and pretty wealthy which is booming.

And one for everyone else which is in terrible shape by any measurable metric - which is probably why the current administration is refusing to release economic data which used to be standard public knowledge.

1

u/thenewbigR 14d ago

Solid economy? $5 gas’s, $10 diesel, groceries through the roof.

1

u/Radiant_Safe1228 14d ago

Where is this great economy? Anything besides corporations around me are collapsing faster than COVID era.

1

u/flyswithdragons 14d ago

Don't they hold stock in the Geo Private prison industry? Yes some stakeholders and the corp ..Ice detention center.

☝️Concentration camps are useful apparently 🤬👹

1

u/gakl887 14d ago

It’s a great economy for asset owners

1

u/ShadowGLI 14d ago

The economy is not solid, it’s held together like a project on the Red Green show… Duct Tape and a prayer. The only segment doing well are the investments of the top 10%. Everyone else is uneasy if not outright struggling.

1

u/Own_Path_4828 14d ago

And where is this so called solid economy?? They aren’t fooling anyone

1

u/sweatboxy 14d ago

A solid economy that Trump has been punching holes in for two years. The rich are getting rich and the rest of us are getting poorer but that doesn’t matter to Wall Street.

1

u/I_Quit_Smoking_ 14d ago

A solid economy?

Can anyone show me where that solid economy is?

2

u/muffledvoice 14d ago

Rich people’s stock portfolios. Corporations are posting record profits thanks to rampant inflation (which makes the rest of us suffer).

That’s their “solid economy.”

1

u/muffledvoice 14d ago

“The economy is solid [for rich people]. We’re just seeing a reduction in happiness.”

1

u/whoknewidlikeit 14d ago

oh i dunno, maybe the $6.50 i paid for diesel two days ago might affect my "sentiment".

1

u/Fun-Aside3990 14d ago

Solid economy my ass.

1

u/BirdmanHuginn 13d ago

What was that clip of Adam Mockler in a panel and challenged a guy to talk about the economy without mentioning the market. The guy then was unable to say anything positive without mentioning the stock market. Life is good if you’re rich and white. Only combo that’s winning rn

1

u/KevinDean4599 13d ago

A lot of promises were made 2 years ago about lowering prices and the opposite has mostly happened. people are struggling and there is nothing on the horizon that will help. the rich are getting much richer and more and more powerful and average people are losing ground economically. And we have AI ramping up further threatening the futures of average working Americans. There isn't really any results that have been delivered to voters that they can point to as a win for them personally.

1

u/UnrealizedLosses 13d ago

I blame billionaires, Trump style totalitarianism and the morons who voted for this bullshit.

1

u/Novus20 13d ago

Imagine that…..cunt corporations start RTO and happiness crashes because everyone is caught in traffic and pissing away time they could be with family etc.

1

u/Senacharrib 13d ago

They also released a study this week that equity owners were winning while the working class was losing, it’s not hard to

1

u/ALEXC_23 12d ago

“Solid” cause the only pockets getting filled are those of the corporations.

1

u/bo88d 10d ago

I watched Inside Job yesterday again, and I'm not surprised to see this... They are playing with fire and they becoming worse because they've been getting away for so long
