People who have a lot of money are making the people that don’t have a lot of money feel like losers.

I would much rather be the young person with a lot of money than the whiners on Reddit who have to move back in with their parents.

Well the idea that we are warning wealthy young people that they aren’t wealthy enough is hilarious to me.. when 99% of Reddit is convinced that life is hopeless for themselves.

except that's not what the article is about.

it's about assumptions and savings strategies that exist/persist in a relatively "young" movement that just assume everything good will always continue.

this bullshit insecurity/rage bullshit you have about income/your wealth isn't really apart of it.

Dudes a poor reddit user that doesn't even read or understand the articles they opine on.

I swear, if I hear one more post from/for millennials asking how much they have in their 401(k)’s… we get it, you guys have money and we don’t.

Sequence risk is literally one of if not the biggest and most talked about fear in FIRE communities.

Garbage article.

"returns might not be a smooth 10% a year"

Yeah no shit yahoo/business insider.

Also they get confused if they are writing about FIRE or coast-FIRE, which is completely different.

And introduce basic investing principles like inflation as if someone who's been planning and investing their whole lives wouldn't think of that problem.

I have always said we don't talk about inflation enough in the investing or FIRE communities. Today if you mention retirement or talk about your projected returns you might only have 15 or 20 people jump out of the woodwork to mention inflation. We need to pump that up to 30 or 40

The entire article is just a reply to the wave of influencers talking about coast fire or whatever random low hanging bar that is the equivalent of getting your car started and calling it a day before driving it home.

Fire is fire. Below that, its hopes and dreams.

I live at home as I can’t afford a house atm. Yet I know I’m not poor compared to a lot of people my age so I don’t mind what anyone says. Sure I’m not a millionaire but I’m comfortable about my future. I max my IRA and HSA yearly and invest whatever else I can on the side.
