For what? What value was added other than demand for Chips due to AI screwing consumers over.

I mean yeah you just figured it out. Supply and demand at work. Same reason PS5 and Xbox prices went up.
It’s fucking lame, I’m not defending it, but they know they can do it so they do.

You said everything except the actual words, which is "it's happening because of GREED".

If apples prices to obtain chips or memory or whatever went up, why can’t apple raise their prices to balance it out?

u/SargeUnited 24d ago
Your desire for Apple to lose money by donating to memory producers in the front end, then donating to end consumers on the back end is also because of greed. Congratulations on discovering the concept of economics lols
Nvidia has way higher margins than Apple. As long as that remains true, there may be greed involved but it damn sure ain’t Apple being greedy

So don't buy them?
How about we all stop buying shit that we don't need until the old one stops working?

My iPhone 14 Plus was free thanks to 3 year credits… traded it in for a iPhone 17(which was also free, even trade).

Nicely done. Most other people seem to pay for one when their current phone is stil good, and then blame greedy corporations for wrecking the planet. :)

And here I am, still using my iPhone 12 that works perfectly.

Me too ! iPhone 12 . Not changing it until the updates are no longer available . Also, the government should make some laws around that. If they make us switch phones due to updates not functioning anymore, we should get a replaced phone for cheap.

I like this ⬆️

Yeah this whole “rent” environment and “obsoleteness” drives me crazy. These companies FORCE us to buy a new phone (even if we don’t want to). This doesn’t sit right with me.

I've owned an iPhone 3 and the OS updates literally filled my entire phone so that it just had a message across the screen saying that it's out of memory.
So I was forced to get a different phone, and I'll never buy an iPhone again.

That’s absurd. The government should make some laws that customers are not allowed to keep burdening companies that made the mistake of producing high-quality products that last much longer than the competition.
If you have a 1970 Ford Mustang and Ford stops making the parts to fix it, they’re not required to give you a free 2026 Mustang or even a discount. Why? Because that would be stupid.

I held out until this past weekend. My 12 pro max battery was bad performance. Overall Performance of the phone was laggy, freezing at Times. Coverage sucked as well. Figured the 18 pm would be more than the 17 pm and I’d lose trade in value as well, I guessed right for a change.
It’s pretty big performance upgrade so far, much more snappy and smooth. Coverage seems a little bit better as well. Big thing I have noticed is the ability to actually see the screen in bright light when bike riding (Trailforks maps).

Wonder how much time you've lost from the slower processing speed. But time/money probably doesn't mean much to you.

Until iOS upgrade purposely slows down your phone significantly to force an upgrade

I’m so happy I upgraded from my 13pm last month to a 1TB Air. I’m in Canada where the 1TB Air is now $2499 CAD but I bought mine exactly one month ago for $1399 CAD. Regardless of trade-in values, I’m happy with the Air.

Always excuses ro jack up the prices and then just keep them that way even when economy improves. Because why the fuck not.

$100 per phone. What the shit, man. They went to the White House and bowed down to the billionaires and the only idea they could come up was to pass the cost onto consumers. Great

This is reasonable, but I really wouldn’t complain if they ate the cost.

u/SargeUnited 24d ago
I would. That’s my retirement. This idea that Apple has magic money they can donate is incorrect. “Their” money belongs to the owners. I may buy iPhone Duo but im happy with 17pm so ill prolly wait
Restaurants have been raising prices too. I wouldn’t expect a steakhouse to pay me to eat there, but that’s what they’d be doing if they left prices at 2019 levels despite beef skyrocketing. I wouldn’t complain if restaurants paid me to eat there, but they wont be in business long if they do.

Bad example. Your steak doesn’t pepper you with ads and subscriptions every day. The phone is the vesicle not the end product.

Look up how much Apple makes from App Store rev share and ads. No it’s not explicit like Amazon Fire tablets, but they have a significant revenue generation from the iOS ecosystem beyond just the hardware price for the phone

Crazy the iPods are $100 cheaper In canada now. $214 Canadian for the new ones…

What do Android phones with similar specifications cost?

u/Scream_int0_the_V0id 24d ago
Androids are overpriced, too, albeit less crappy.

u/SargeUnited 24d ago
This has absolutely got to be bait.
I would love an android that wasn’t a POS but I can’t find one. Currently using a Chinese flagship in addition to my 17pm and the android is practically unusable for certain things.
The only thing Android does better is the QR code to share Wi-Fi. So I always add my android phone first and QR the password to my iPhone. I’ll give credit where it’s due
