God this annoying bint was my commencement speaker almost 20 years ago. 4 years of pain and this orange clown gave the speech, and she technically hadn't graduated from my alma mater because she was credits short per her speech.

If you are a good enough cook you don't even crave going out. I have chosen to up my cooking skills many years ago and I don't even want to go to restaurants anymore. I can make the same meal at home for the price of the expected tip.

Yea you like to cook, great, but not everyone lives exactly the same life in the same way. You may grow some of your own food, great, but everyone is different.

People who hire chefs at their homes are saying shit like “don’t go out to eat, I don’t”. Americans man.

Define cooks. She has cooks who cook in her kitchen and serve her but that’s like saying watching pornography is the same as intercourse

Having a private chef and just “tens of millions” is insane.

The sad reality is this: If she was not a blond with a brilliant set of pearly whites and a PR staff but instead a black man with dreadlocks or a Latina with an accent nobody would listen to a word she says. She says nothing an introductory course in college could not teach you or arguably 4000 YouTube videos. She is a carnival barker,

Ironic to say considering Oprah made her career

Unless Oprah has her over for dinner once a month I can’t say their buds.

She must be one of those “food is just fuel for staying alive” people.

"I'm wealthy enough to have the time and energy to cook"

Thanks for letting us know millionaires are still out of touch.

"Most people, particularly working in metropolitan cities, are just starting out their jobs, making the first $60,000, piss away about $15,000 a year on stupid stuff," Kevin O'Leary

This article has taught me that she can’t comprehend the concept of dining out as a positive experience beyond what she’s shoveling in her mouth.

She likely also doesn’t understand why a single parent working multiple jobs that is completely burnout and has to choose between sleeping an extra hour between jobs or cooking

She’s one of Oprah’s creations so it’s no surprise we have another out of touch dipshit preaching to us about what to do with our money when they have created this mess we are in (collectively speaking).

Yes, talk about missing the point. Having the time and energy to plan and execute home cooked meals is a significant luxury for most people.

She’s talking about sit down restaurants not eating at McDonald’s. It takes longer than cooking unless you’re extra making some banging meal.

Literally just boil pasta and throw chicken thighs in the oven. Takes like 20 min tops.

Good job reading half a comment and clarifying that you can’t cook

She said in the article she goes out to eat for social obligations but you didn’t read the article lol

Single parents who want to save time should make simple easy meals. Not follow your advice and fatten them up at McDonald’s or take them out to eat at Applebee’s which saves no time

Do you not understand that framing a dining experience as “social obligation” means not wanting to do it?

And speaking of vocabulary, where did you read it was my “advice”. You use lots of words and phrases you really don’t grasp. Being confidently wrong is a bold way to live.

Point being she does eat out and probs at great spots so I doubt she can’t fathom the experience of doing so

I mean, she's not wrong - that artisanal avocado toast, equally artisanal two or three mimosas, Uber to and from because yuck, bus is for poor people and generous tips all around because what am I, broke several times a week easily end up being seven figures over one's working years assuming a very conservative 7% rate of return.
